Haridwar, Feb 27: Seven days after the twin blasts in Hyderabad, another terror group now allegedly had threatened to blow up several religious places including Haridwar and Dehradoon.
This time the terror threat reportedly had come from Jaish-e-Mohammad which allegedly had vowed to take revenge of its alleged member Afzal Guru's execution.
According to sources, Amrinder Singh, former Superintendent of Haridwar Railway station on Tuesday, Feb 26 received a letter which seems to be written by JeM.
Haridwar SSP Arun Mohan Joshi told media that the letter sent purportedly by the Karachi based area commander of JeM targeted to blow up Dehradun, Haridwar and Kathgodam rail junctions near Nainital and prominent places of religious and tourist interest like Har Ki Pauri in the holy city.
Security has been beefed up in Uttarakhand and other religious places. Informing about the letter, Mr Joshi added, "Though the authenticity of the threat and the origin of the letter is being examined, we are not taking any chances and have alerted the highest authorities in places mentioned in the letter."
After the Hyderabad twin blasts, it seems that state and central government are not ready to take any risk. Hyderabad blasts killed 16 and over 100 people were injured during the explosion on Thursday, Feb 21.
Afzal Guru was hanged inside Tihar jail premises in New Delhi on Feb 9. Guru was one of the prime convicts of Parliament attack 2001.
