Hashem prizes those who appreciate and want to preserve Eretz Yisrael for the Am Yisrael very highly.
The Midrash says that in Biblical times even some idolatrous kings of of the Kingdom of Israel were granted more military success than those of the Kingdom of Judah, because they were prepared to fight and conquer for the Torah borders of Eretz Yisrael.
