Everyone,
Where's next week's open Ask JTF thread? I already have my question ready for it!
Shalom,
Do you see an analogy between the Gruzini Jews and the Mennonite Christians? Both represent highly isolated and unique subsections of their respective religions in southwestern Asia: the Gruzini in Georgia, and the Mennonites in (originally) Kazakhstan. They have unique languages--Georgian for the Gruzini, and Plautdietsch for the Mennonites. The Gruzini fled religious persecution in Europe, and so did the Mennonites. Common Mennonite surnames are Wiens and Dueck.
Some Gruzini and some Mennonites are very left-wing, and others of each group are very staunch supporters of the Jewish people.
Just thought the above would be interesting to point out. Chaimfan
