Hundreds of descendants of Peruvian Jews are planning to make aliyah (immigrate) to Israel, the Jewish Agency reports.

The community of Peruvians with Jewish ancestry has been dubbed the “Amazon Jews.”

The members of the community who will be moving to Israel have undergone a conversion to Judaism through the Conservative movement. Because the Conservative movement’s conversions differ from traditional Orthodox conversions the newcomers will not be recognized as Jewish by the government, despite being eligible for citizenship.

The Jewish Agency has already begun preparations for their arrival, and has obtained apartments in the city of Ramle for them to live in during their first months in Israel. Ramle was chosen because the city is home to a Peruvian-Israel community.

In 2004 the government froze aliyah of Jewish converts from India and Peru with Jewish ancestry. However, the decision was later changed and by 2010 aliyah from Peru had risen significantly.

These Peruvians are NOT Jews & are being brought to Israel & given citizenship while real Jews like Chaim Ben Pesach & others are refused aliyah,enterance to Israel or both.

I am not sure what their claims are. If they claim they descend from anusim there might be some factual basis. If they tell the usual story of being one of the lost tribes then it's rubbish.

I know there are some Peruvians who had come here over 10 years ago and they were converted by orthodox rabbis and live a religious lifestyle. They used to live in Gush Katif until Israeli traitorous government carried out the expulsion in 2005.

But apparently this new batch of Peruvian are hitch hikers that went through "conservative conversion" which has no validity.

1. Even the souls of gentiles can feel instinctively that we are in the End Times and that the future belongs to the Am Yisrael, whom they want to join while they can.

2. Word is out throught the world that the Israelis are merciful and generous and that $$$ and free appartments are given out like confetti to Jews and converts to Judaism who come to live in Israel.

Oh I just realized I made a mistake, it was not Peruvian Jews in that got expelled they were "Sons of Menashe" from India/Burma.

I have just made a quick search about Peruvian Jews. It turned out there is a community in the city of Iquitos that are the descendants of Jewish men who settled there in the 1880s and married local (Amerindian) women. In the 1950s their descendants started to rediscover their Jewish ancesrtry and by the 1990s several hundreds of them underwent conversion by rabbis of the Peruvian community, then many emigrated to Israel.

Independently from this community, there is a group of Peruvians mestizos, originally from the city of Trujillo, that call themselves "Bnei Moshe" as if they were some sort of lost "Inca Jews". But still they were officially converted by Chabad rabbis with the blessing of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in the late 1980s. Now most of them live in Samaria in Kfar Tapuach and other settlements. About 500 hundred of them live today in Israel.

But the folk from the article, these "Amazon Jews" are more then likely hitchhikers who want to live off of welfare and benefits of socialist Israel.

I am not calling anyone a loser..... but ethnic groups that have achieved absolutely nothing and have nothing to be proud of commonly conjure up some grandiose heritage or just claim to be descendants of a respectable people.

Are you aware that the Amazonians and Peruvians and Aztecs actually created great civilizations including great pyramids and complex Calendars (similar in some ways to the Jewish calendar).

I also don't believe that any people other than the Jews consider us respectible (judging from comments on most major news sites)... Someone who wants to join us must be willing to die being a Jew, and being subjected to the worst form of hatred (antisemitism)...

For all you know some of these people could be very wealthy and Torah observant. They are of partial Jewish descent. The First Jew stepped in the Americas in 1492.

Can you provide sources for your claims? I have never seen such a description of the murder of Hevel by Kayin...

Ancient Egypt was also advanced but evil.

I heard that King Solomon's sailors went to Peru. Even the ArtScroll Kings says that Ophir is believed by some to be Peru. There is supposed to be some Hebrew archeological findings there too. So these are not Conversos (Spanish Jews from the Inquisition). They may be lost Jews like the Bnei Menashe in India. When they convert, they become Right Wing Jews and settle in Judea and Samaria. But most Ethiopians did not convert so they are not valid.

I actually spoke to a Ben Menashe in Bet El and he said he thinks they're just converts, and not lost tribes. Either way, they are real Jews when they do a real conversion. Somehow, this is not usually something done with blacks on mass. It's more common to non-black Non-Western countries.

That's ridiculous. Anyone can now claim to be a lost try and get fake conversions and move to Israel with all the benefits. But people who convert under Orthodox auspices have a hard time sometimes with the Israeli government allowing them to make aliyah. But any gentile who gets a conservative conversion is welcomed. What is wrong with this world sometimes?
