What is the Tribe of Quraysh?

It says on Wikipedia that Mohammad was a member of the Quraysh tribe that he is known for destroying.

Some things on the Internet refer to the Jewish tribe of Quraysh. Was there such a Jewish tribe? How were they related to Mohammad?

The Jewish tribe of Medina (at the time it was known as "Yathrib") which Muhammad massacred was the Qurayza tribe. Muhammad came from the pagan Quraysh tribe of Mecca.
