Democrat Attacked for pro-Israel, pro-Chabad association
« on: June 21, 2013, 02:48:19 AM »
Here is an example of how Chabad has become a symbol of pro-Israel religious Zionism...

From http://www.israelmatzav.blogspot.com/

It's been a while since I've written about Peter Beinart, but he's back in the news again.

Beinart has attacked Cory Booker, the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, the leading Democratic candidate to replace Frank Lautenberg as a US Senator from New Jersey. This particular internecine Democratic dispute shows Beinart's obsession with bashing Israel: He attacks Booker for his associations with the Chabad movement. Beinart bashes Chabad for being 'deeply, primitively racist.' That's a ridiculous charge, as Dovid Efune explains.

Quote
I wonder what the many Asian victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami who were the benefactors of Chabad’s color blind relief effort, would have to say about Beinart’s assessment. “When it comes to the aid, we have seen no lines in who we assist,” Yosef Zaklos, a Chabad rabbi involved in the relief efforts, told the Jerusalem Post at the time, “Just the other day, we gave aid to a Muslim family. It’s not Jewish-oriented aid, it’s humanitarian aid.”

Perhaps another point of call for Mr. Beinart in his efforts to research Chabad should have been the members of the largely African American community whose lives were devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. “One of those rescued from New Orleans put it this way: In the days after Katrina hit, Chabad saved lives,” said President George W. Bush, singling out Chabad for praise.

Victims of Hurricane Sandy, the Japanese earthquake of 2011, the recent Oklahoma tornadoes and numerous other crises will tell you the same story. Perhaps Mr. Beinart, before trumpeting your wholesale slander of one of the most active and powerful Jewish humanitarian organizations the world has ever seen, you will provide one, just one example of an act of racial prejudice that has been perpetrated in the name of Chabad’s ideology.

But Beinart's real bone of contention with Chabad is the fact that its most recent Rebbe, Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson zt"l, was a staunch opponent of giving land in Israel to the 'Palestinian' Arabs. Efune says that Beinart's wrong about that too.

Quote
But if Beinart actually made an effort to research Chabad’s position on the creation of a Palestinian Arab state he would come to understand that it is rooted in the ultimate justice: the preservation of human life.

“The only subject matter under discussion –at any rate, from my treatment of it – is the purely Halachic (Jewish legal) subject of the preservation of life as it affects the question of returning any part of the liberated areas,” wrote the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem  Schneerson, in correspondence with the late former Commonwealth Chief Rabbi Immanuel Jakobovits on the matter, between 1980 and 1982. “Now in regard to the liberated areas, all military experts both Jewish and non-Jewish agree that in the present situation giving up any part of them would create serious security dangers,” he explained.

Years later Schneerson’s concerns were affirmed when successive territorial compromises resulted almost directly in increased bloodshed.

Perhaps Beinart can explain why Palestinian Arab nationalism is so important a goal in his eyes that he does not even consider the concerns held by Chabad to be worthy of consideration.

Perhaps to Beinart, the preservation of human life isn't justified when the human lives in question are Jewish lives. Why Beinart has any credibility or influence in the Jewish community is simply beyond me. He's nothing but a self-hating Jew.

OMG! Another Chabad Rabbi related to my Rabbi... (Yosef Zaklos)..

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

I pray for and would love to see millions of Democrats wake up and take a good look at what this nation has become.

Shmuley Boteach destroys the lies of Peter Beinart.

Peter Beinart’s Attack on Me and Cory Booker
Noone, least of all me, wants to see any Arab child suffer, God forbid.
Rabbi Shmuley Boteach
June 18th, 2013

Last week Peter Beinart wrote a column on The Daily Beast called “Cory Booker’s Rabbis” which surmised that my 20 year friendship with the Democratic Senate Candidate in New Jersey, and my having brought him to the Jewish community, might be pushing him toward too much of a pro-Israel posture. Peter, whom I also know from Oxford when he was a Rhodes scholar and whom I like and respect amid our considerable differences on Israel, offered many myths about my relationship with Cory, who served as President of my student organization at Oxford University. I responded at length to his attack.

Now, most people know when they’re beat and Peter’s original broadside against me and Cory was so weak that it was easy to demolish. But some people are just gluttons for punishment and now Peter is back for more.

Not content to have damaged his reputation as a writer and editor by fraudulently accusing me of racism and then blaming it on a low-level staffer, and not content to have sullied his reputation for diligence by inventing myths like me and Cory never having discussed Israel or the Middle East, Peter is back condemning Israel, only this time he’s using pictures of Boruch Goldstein’s grave to make his desperate case.

How many Jews in the entire world support the Jewish terrorist Boruch Goldstein? Would even Peter put it at more than a few hundred out of fourteen million? Peter should have remained with his original apology – which I accept – and quit while he is behind.

Here is the main point against Peter’s rejoinder to me, and indeed his entire position on the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Of course the Palestinians are suffering, as Cory himself said in a recent interview with The Forward. The question is, why? Who is to blame? And how can their suffering be remedied?

For Peter, who always hides behind his self-declared status as a Zionist to attack Israel, the reason is simple. Israel oppresses the Palestinians. But for those interested in facts the unfortunate suffering of the Palestinians is akin to the suffering of the Japanese or Germans during the Second World War. When you continually resort to violence, inflicting terror on your neighbors, you’re probably going to end up suffering yourself.

Israel has done everything to have a peace deal with the Arabs. It gave up land three times its size in Sinai to have peace with Egypt even after Egypt launched war of annihilation in 1967 and 1973. Its reward today is having an Egyptian President who refers to Jews as “bloodsuckers” and “descendants of apes and pigs.” Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza. Result: tens of thousands of murderous rockets being fired at Israeli nurseries and hospitals. And Israel brought Yasser Arafat to the West Bank and armed his forty-thousand-strong ‘police’ force, thereby creating the Palestinian Authority. Result, more than a thousand dead Jews, equivalent to sixty thousand Americans, blown to smithereens on buses and in discos in the terror that resulted from Oslo I and II. Could any of this have something to do with Peter’s pet peeve, that Israel now maintains military checkpoints?

When I get on a plane here in the US I’m not allowed to bring a can of Coke. When I go to a meeting in a New York building to visit a friend I have to show ID. Does Peter really believe that after two decades of terrorism from the West Bank Israel is not going to take military measures to stop the terror? Is he kidding himself that Israel should just allow Jews to die?

I am a Jew and Arabs are my brothers and sisters under God. Every Palestinian life is the equivalent of a Jewish life. Noone, least of all me, wants to see any Arab child suffer, God forbid. But my Palestinian brothers need to stop choosing bloodthirsty governments like Hamas, who were elected in a democratic vote. They have to stop putting up monuments to Shahid suicide bombers – which I witnessed with my own eyes – who kill Jews. They have to stop teaching their children in schools that Jews are of the devil. They have to stop seeing Israel as a humiliation to Arab pride. And they have to reach out to Israel in peace. Anything less is only going to prolong the Israel-Palestinian conflict as well as Palestinian suffering. And if Peter really cared more about Palestinian well being then attacking Israel he would be courageous enough to say it. The suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza under Hamas is a powerful case in point.

I personally visited Gaza City when I took the Rev. Al Sharpton on a solidarity trip to Israel right after 9/11 and witnessed the unspeakable poverty that prevailed under Yasser Arafat’s Palestinian Authority, even though, as The New York Times reported, by 2004 the Palestinians had become “the world’s largest per capita recipients of international aid.”

Sadly, very little of that money trickled down to Palestinian children due to widespread corruption and theft on the part of the Palestinian leadership.

When Hamas came to power in 2006, rather than investing in infrastructure  they used their money for weapons to launch a war against Israeli civilians and turning Gaza not into a Palestinian state but into a launching pad to annihilate the Jews.

Hamas, which rules Gaza with an iron fist, is dedicated to Israel’s destruction and to attacking Jews wherever they may be found, not just in Israel. Its covenant is deeply racist, with genocidal aspirations: “Our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious. It needs all sincere efforts … until the enemy is vanquished and Allah’s victory is realized.” As a Jew, Peter, for all his attacks against Israel, is also on Hamas’ hit list.

I need not add how gays and women fare under Hamas rule, whose barbarity includes widespread honor killings of young women and whose usual excuse for persecuting gays is to label them collaborators.

Simple question to Peter: would he be OK with Hamas ruling in the West Bank as well as Gaza if that is the price to be paid for a Palestinian state?

The Hamas Charter reads like a modern-day Mein Kampf: “The Day of Judgment will not come until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say, ‘O Muslims… there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

The solution for the conflict is for my Palestinian brothers, who currently live in Gaza under the tyranny of Hamas and in the West Bank under the corruption and mismanagement of the Palestinian Authority, to enjoy a benevolent, democratic government like the 1.5 million Arab citizens of Israel, who practice a glorious Islamic faith without encumbrance, publish newspapers without interference, and adhere to the Islamic faith without fear.

Chabad used to have a yeshiva in Newark. After Booker's people started a race riot, they had to move it to Morristown. Newark used to be a big Jewish area and many kosher food companies still sell food that says Newark on the box. I don't know where the factories are because sometimes the same companies say Secaucus or Jersey City. I'm talking about Manischewitz, Season, and the other companies which are part of the same kosher conglomerate.

I think Chabad was in Newark even before the Rebbe moved to the United States.

While Peter Beinart. should be condemned,    this same Shmuley Boteach  calls the late and great Dr. Baruch Goldstein a terrorist AND supports Samantha Power.    To say the least,   I have made differences with Shmuley Boteach .
"Israel's leaders seem to be more afraid of Obama than they are of G-d. Now we're getting to the real root of the problem. Secular politics won't save Israel. Denying the divine nature of the Jewish State has brought Israel neither stability nor peace. When that changes Israel will finally be blessed with both in abundance"-----------NormanF   ( Posted on Israel Matzav's Blog )

I do not like what Shmuley says and does. He is always seeking honor and attention... It would be better for the Jewish people if Shmuley kept his thoughts to himself.

Shmuley Boteach is more of an Imam then rabbi. He was Michael Jackson's spiritual counselor.

Here is the opposite. This guy seems more like an infidel than an imam.

I remember in Hebrew School in comparative religion class, they brought in an imam to speak that said the same things like Palazzi so I don't believe he was a real Muslim. He was a convert to fake Islam. He was born to Non-Muslims.
