Future of the Archives

I've been maintaining the JTF archives at jtfarchive.org since 2007.

As you may have noticed, I haven't had time to really work on them.  There is a huge chunk of material there, but I haven't had time to rewrite scripts, etc to handle the new shows that started (Ask JTF in the new format).  Nothing's been added since November 2011.

My hosting is coming up for renewal and I am not going to have either the time or the funds to continue to host the archives.

It's been a good run!  The archives have been around since 2007 and hopefully people have gotten a lot of files.  There's 28GB of shows.

So I'd like to encourage people to download whatever files they want.  I've put up a special download page to make this easier - each file is listed and you can just right-click save rather than browsing through wordpress.

Is there any reason to keep the RealMedia streams? Back then .rm files were very low quality (but that is why they had small file sizes). Virtually everyone can download and use MP3 files today... I may delete my local .rm files because I think old RM files sound like crepe.

If anyone else (with a Linux system and enough Hard Drive space (approx 28Gigs)) would like to mirror this site here are instructions:

1) Create a directory on a volume which has sufficient free space.

$> mkdir JTF-ARCHIVE
$> cd JTF-ARCHIVE
$> df -h .

2) Use the wget tool to download the site.
