The official number according to the immigration and population service is that as of October 2013 a total 69,449 illegal immigrants crossed the border from the Sinai, of which 53,636 are staying in Israel.

I think the numbers are grossly underestimating the real number, by a factor of at least 2. 

Another thing that I find especially suspicious is that the official numbers for December 2012 are 64,509 illegal crossings of which 54,201 are still staying in Israel. So they are saying basically that within 9 month s 4,940 new Africans entered illegally, but somehow 5,505 of them somehow disappeared. Now only a small number (in the order of 100) of them have returned to Africa, died or otherwise left Israel. So the only way that 5,000 of them could be erased from the record is if they were given legal residence status in Israel.
