Global Warming
« on: January 10, 2014, 11:23:44 AM »
There's been a lot of debate among average people and in the political arena when it comes to the legitimacy (or not) of global warming and how dangerous (or not) it is to the world wide weather patterns, water levels, animal populations (such as insect swarms and fish schooling patterns), etc.

However whether or not global warming is legitimate or not is beside the point. Conservatives don't oppose global warming because the science is bad on it (or not). Conservatives would have different responses if it were legitimate and there really needed to be something done to make things better, but we don't even get a chance to have a say in how this apparent phenomenon is handled.

Let's say that the worst predictions of Al Gore and other prominent global warming promoters are true. Crops will fail, the Maldives will sink under the water, coastal cities will flood, mosquitoes and other vermin will thrive, diseases will spread, major hurricanes will form at a much higher rate, etc.

Now let's look at what liberals tell us we should do about this.

1. Global Warming believers make everything you buy and do more inconvenient and more expensive

The liberals believe that we can't even have a properly flushing toilet (have to have a low flow) because of "global warming", and we have to have dangerous squiggly light bulbs full of mercury that are more expensive rather than regular light bulbs. Businesses spend a lot of money to not create too much carbon due to increased regulation and they pass the costs down to the consumers. Land owners are told even more what they can and can't do with their own land. "Energy efficient" products are often sub-par, such as a washing machine that won't agitate properly like the older models did. These are just a few examples but the basic picture is that life is more expensive, more inconvenient, etc. because of all this global warming and extreme environmentalism stuff.

2. Global warming believers advocate killing lots of people

This is the real heart of why conservatives don't like this global warming stuff. Because of global warming nonsense, we've all been brainwashed that "There are too many people in the world", and that we need to "reduce the population".

What this comes to in real world terms are: Promoting homosexuality as a lifestyle (many people have the potential to have homosexual attraction, there are many more people that are actively homosexual today than there have been in the past), promoting abortion (to reduce the number of people on earth, liberals hope to abort as many babies as possible), and promoting euthanasia and assisted suicide (infants that the parents don't want to care for, old people, terminally ill, or people who just don't want to live).

There are also other aspects that tie into this such as some vaccines potentially being unsafe and the danger of GMO foods, etc.

Many food companies have been reducing calories in their food products. This might be good for people who have enough money to buy more than enough food to eat, but not so good for people who can't afford very much food. Imagine if you only had enough money for two small meals a day and the food company cut the calories in those products. That would be harming you, not helping you.

At any rate all this "sustainable development", "population control", etc. is why we are really against the global warming agenda.

Whether or not the science is valid is really irrelevant.

People reject the whole idea of global warming because it's tied in with the abortion, the euthanasia, the homosexual agenda, and other means of "population control" which are nefarious.

Closing the borders and ending foreign aid is all the population control we need.

Global warming is also an excuse to force a handicap on western economic output, for example see the "Kyoto Protocol". The real motive is a socialist principle of wealth redistribution (in practice- destruction).

Didn't the 'scientists' abandon the term 'global warming' and start using the term 'climate change'?

I think 'climate change' is more descriptive of what is going on. But the climate has been changing since the world was created, so there is nothing especially wrong with 'climate change'. The question which has not been answered is whether human's have had any impact on global climate change. I am not convinced that humans have had any effect on the climate, and swings in temperature have occurred over time (ice ages and warming trends).

I firmly believe the 'global warming' hysteria is a political invention of the left-wing progressives. A cause (like back in the 70's when scientists were pushing the 'coming ice age' meme) to scare the government into giving more money to 'voodoo scientists'..
You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

Regardless of whether the climate is changing and regardless of whether humans have any impact on that change, the fact remains that conservatives don't oppose the agenda attached to it because they supposedly hate science or want to deny facts. Conservatives oppose the global warming or climate change agenda because it's linked to a bunch of liberal buffoonery and actually dangerous and evil "population control" methods. I believe that conservatives would come up with solutions that weren't so cruel to human beings if we were able to be in power. Unfortunately even when a republican gets into power they are still not very conservative.

Global warming is also an excuse to force a handicap on western economic output, for example see the "Kyoto Protocol". The real motive is a socialist principle of wealth redistribution (in practice- destruction).

Yes there's a lot of aspects to this that serve the liberal agenda. They use it as an excuse to get most of the things they want done.

It doesn't matter one way or another as to how conservatives would respond to the current global warming agenda. If global warming is 100% legitimate we still wouldn't like the way things are being handled. The promotion of abortion world wide is linked up in the global warming agenda for one thing.

Maybe G-d punished them measure for measure by having Hurricane Katrina strike New Orleans, the center of voodoo idolatry.

I remember in December, 1991, someone working at the local JCC in what can be called "Winter Camp" said that New York City would be underwater within 5 years. Now 22 years later, we see how silly such predictions are. Hurricane Sandy was the closest to that happening but the city is back and normal now.

I'd be interested in finding out exactly how dire the situation really is rather than just how hyped up it's been. For example Al Gore was predicting a lot of these doomsday things would've happened already. Also consider that climate change happens over the long term, but we get a new president every four years. Even if something was put into place, it could be dismantled by the next guy with no net effect. So this is something that has to be realistically assessed as far as what to expect rather than a bunch of people running around like chicken littles. If we can get a realistic and scientific projection on what to expect then better policies could be put in place.

I think any conservative approach would rely more on private businesses to handle the problems rather than government. For example technology could be developed to hold back water from flooding coastal cities, create better pest control methods, and increase farming efficiency.

The first thing we'd do is stop screaming about how there are too many people and start working out how to accommodate a large and growing population without advocating people's death or non-reproduction.

I'm all for alternative energy but  think the primary alternative to oil would be domestic coal.

There is enough oil and coal at current consumption in the States for 400 years. We will be fine.

Not any time soon. Anyway I do believe in alternative energy but the technology has to improve on them before they can become the main sources of energy.

Current extraction and implementation processes in the USA make oil and coal more environmentally friendly than wind and solar.
