My friend works in the energy industry in California... and he says it has become impossibly expensive to invest in clean coal or nuclear facilities due to outrageous regulations and taxes.... (many from former and current governor Brown).  Now only solar and wind do not have these expenses, so consequentially, California's energy costs soared in the 1990's until citizen's got so mad... that politicians had to outsource all new energy from dirtier sources.... especially Mexico.

So in the end.... because of our super smart politicians, California has an even larger global carbon footprint.  Way to go!!!!
