Americanization of Cinco De Mayo? Real Mexicans in Mexico don't even celebrate it. It's mostly celebrated by Mexicans in the United States. It's supposed to commemorate the overthrow of the French occupiers during the period of Emperor Maximillian but it only celebrates one victory. After that victory, the French took over the whole country. Also, it's not Mexican Independence Day.
Also, why are white Mexicans called "people of color"? As far as I know Salma Hayek is a white Mexican of Lebanese descent. Lebanese are also white and most of the Christians there are probably not even Arabs. The Muslims conquered the area and introduced the Arabic speaking culture.
These people think being a minority makes someone a "politically correct" "person of color". People of color refers to blacks. I guess it's because to call them colored would be racist. First they wanted colored, then Negro, then black, and now "African-American".
