Happy Independence Day, Israel!

See this old version of Hatikvah. Pretty beautiful!

If I forget thee O' Jerusalem:

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

It's good that it doesn't say Chofshi. The Leftists don't know what Chofshi means in real Hebrew.

It's good that it doesn't say Chofshi. The Leftists don't know what Chofshi means in real Hebrew.

Original poem said "Lashuv l'Eretz Aboteinu" (to return to the Land of Our Fathers), the new version says "Lihyot 'Am Chofshi Be'Artzeinu" (to be a free Nation in our Land). New lyrics is more accurate because not all Jews needed to return (many were still there) and now, most exilees already have returned. But what do leftists undersatnd by "Chofshi". I don't speak Hebrew. But I have always understood it as "free".
