The very same Shia militias that engaged in battles with US Forces during the Iraqi war are now aligning themselves and standing side by side with the Iraqi government to fight the Sunni militias.. I am really hoping people don't buy into the media bullcrap considering the Sunni militas and AL Qaeda as the only terrorist group that is fighting. Actually, it appears that this is going to be a full out war between Sunni and Shia and Al Qaeda will more or less jump into the backseat once this erupts in full scale. In reality, it is not Al Qaeda that is giving power to this rebellion, but the Sunni people , as a whole.. IT wouldn't surprise me if Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and several other Gulf countries throw full support to the Iraqi Sunnis and militants in their war against Iran and the Shia militias.
I believe people are totally deluded as to what is really going on here. This is not simply a war against Al Qaeda militants and the Iraq military, this is reallly a much greater war between Shia Islam and Sunni Islam. The scale of this war can actually become astronomical.. There is a lingering hatred between Shias and Sunnis that is well beyond any hatred for any other people, including the Jews.. What we need to do is sit in the backseat, encourage them to fight and help them destroy one another. Also, it is in Israel's best interest that the Sunnis conquer Iraq and push the Shia armies back to Iran.. If the Shias gain control of Iraq, then Iraq-Iran will become like one nation and Israel will have the worst foe it can imagine right next to its border and it will certainly be the launching ground for all future terrorist attacks, as well as a potential nuclear strike.
A good article from the Houston Chronicle that is actually discussing the reality of what is going on in Iraq and not focusing on all the bleeding-heart, compassionate, knee-jerk reactions of innocent Shias being massacred by Al Qaeda like most other media outlets are doing:
