The names of the six suspects in the murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir are still under a gag order, and as some of them are minors, it’s not clear when or if their names will ever be released. What can be said is that these youths are on the margins of the ultra-Orthodox community.

In other words, they belong to the most overlooked and least understood part of Israeli society: young men and women who don’t fit into the rigid structure of their Haredi homes but have not crossed into another community and perhaps never will. They may be the most easily disowned group — not only in Israel, but in the entire Jewish world.

Tragically, they are also the most susceptible to influence from Kahanist and other racist groups that trawl the streets of Jerusalem for such disaffected youths, offering them acceptance into a cult that fuses nationalism, Judaism, violence and lawlessness.

Haaretz commentator Or Kashti has amply described how Israel’s school system has failed to educate its students about racism and human rights, but at least the state schools have made an effort, however feeble. What about the 18 percent of Israeli children, nearly 300,000, enrolled in Haredi schools that teach their own curriculums with minimal if any state supervision? (Though most continue receiving public funding.) And what about those teenagers who chafe at the strictures of ultra-Orthodox life and drop out?

There is no way to even begin assessing the size of this group. Many of them remain registered with their yeshivas or seminars that receive funding based on the official number of students and have little interest in acknowledging truancy.

The Education Ministry says dropout rates in Haredi education are at 8 percent, but some observers believe the number is three times higher. We’re talking about tens of thousands of teenagers. Some transfer to special yeshivas and seminars founded for students who have trouble handling the tough requirements of the mainstream institutes.

But there is a stigma attached to these places in a society where a young person’s suitability for a good marriage match is everything. And while some educators at these places make sterling efforts on behalf of their students, they operate on the premise that whatever happens, the kids must remain in the Haredi framework.

Not enough support

Every other sector of Israeli society, even the most underprivileged, has some kind of state-funded structure. Young Israelis who want to leave the Haredi world have nothing besides a tiny handful of NGOs with meager budgets. Making your way in an environment you’re not socially or intellectually prepared for with no form of support is a daunting task.

And not all Haredi dropouts are interested in such a transition; they just want to be normal teenagers in a community that doesn’t allow for individualism or deviation from the prescribed path. You can see these bored kids hanging out in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and just about every other Haredi town and neighborhood in Israel. With nowhere else to go to, they’re easy pickings for Kahanists who offer them a sense of belonging, action and identification.

None of this excuses anyone involved in the depraved murder of a 16-year-old. But as their identities emerge and just about every segment of Israeli society disowns them, it makes sense to try to understand the background.

No one in government or education in Israel and the Diaspora has any interest in working with this group. Haredi leaders are certainly not willing to make it easier for youngsters to defect. Support for any form of counseling or vocational training for ultra-Orthodox teens trying to make their way outside the community would be a tacit admission that this way of life doesn’t fit everyone. It would undermine a fundamental belief.

And while the government, the business community and even the army have been making limited inroads in getting Haredi men and women to join the workforce, these programs depend on cooperation with the rabbis and constant reassurances that no one is trying to get Haredim to abandon their beliefs. An official initiative to help dropouts on their difficult path would provoke an outcry against secular proselytizing. So these kids fall between the cracks.

This is the fault of the Israeli establishment, though Jewish communities in the Diaspora share some of the blame. Very similar trends are occurring in Haredi communities in America and Europe. In many cases, parents who feel incapable of dealing with these challenges send their children to yeshivas in Israel in the hope that if they don’t straighten out, at least they won’t spoil their brothers and sisters and bring shame on the family.

Reinforced by this overseas contingent, the dark underbelly of the Haredi community grows. Forsaken by all the establishments and off the radar of social services, think tanks and demographers, these kids are prone to petty crime and extremism.

No one should act surprised that members of this group appear involved in Mohammed Abu Khdeir’s murder. They are the lost children of the Jewish people; Jewish leaders have disowned them for too long

Haaretz should be indicted for inciting against the religious.

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

The Israeli police will find some Jews to pin the crime on and have them put in jail for life to appease their Arab, European and liberal Democrat American masters.   Very likely, this was an inside job from the Arab side....

However, I will say its about time the Jews start their own INTIFADA against the Arabs..  When will Jews being oppressed in their own country by a bunch of vicious, racist and genocidal savages stop????
Please keep the Kahanist movement strong and free of internal strife and drama.

Tag, can you provide a link?

Though Haaretz is accidentally showing some truth. Many of the Kahanists do come from the ranks of the Charedim who truly love Torah.

ALso is that the whole of the text from the story?

Haaretz wont even criticize when Israelis are lynched.

http://fresnozionism.org/2011/12/on-murderers-and-car-theives/
Another Israeli journalist at a different newspaper, Nahum Barnea of
Yediot Aharonot, wrote in November of 2000 that there are Israeli
reporters who do not pass the "lynching test." These are journalists who
could not bring themselves to criticize the Palestinians even when two
Israelis were savagely murdered by a Palestinian mob in Ramallah. Which
journalists? Gideon Levy, Amira Hass, and Akiva Eldar of Ha'aretz.

She hits it right on the head.

Gideon Levy, who writes for Israel`s pre-eminent daily, Haaretz, fancies himself a champion of the weak and vulnerable. The day after my child`s cold-blooded murder by a Hamas bomber, Levy wrote the following in his weekly piece detailing Palestinian suffering:

"These children, every child in the world should have protection as though he were a VIP. Every child in the world is a VIP"
Levy did not mention the seven Jewish children whose graves were dug that day because he did not mean those children. He never does.

Levy`s colleague, Amira Hass, the only Israeli journalist who lives in a Palestinian town, Ramallah, was equally indifferent to my child`s murder. The first piece she published in Haaretz after the Sbarro massacre made no mention of the fifteen victims. Instead, it was an emotive tirade about the Palestinian right of return, reminding her readers of two major Jewish settlements close to Jerusalem that she fears "won`t be evacuated": the city of Maaleh Adumim and the Jerusalem satellite community of Givat Ze`ev.

Murdered Jewish children do not move Hass either.

Legal Forum: Investigate Haaretz Writer for Incitement

The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel asks the Attorney General to investigate Haaretz writer Amira Hass for incitement.
By Elad Benari
First Publish: 4/4/2013

The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel on Wednesday contacted Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein, asking that he launch an investigation against Haaretz writer Amira Hass on suspicion of incitement.

The request was made after Hass, an Israeli radical leftist who lives in the PA city of Ramallah, wrote in a column on Wednesday, “Throwing stones is the right and the duty of anyone living under foreign rule.”

Later in the column she termed rock-throwing “a metaphor for resistance.” Hass is the official Haaretz correspondent for what the newspaper labels the "occupied territories".

Yesha Council head Avi Ro'eh and Chairman Ron Shachner have already sent a letter to the Jerusalem Police, accusing the newspaper of incitement to violence.

Attorney Hila Cohen, writing on behalf of the Legal Forum, wrote in the letter to Weinstein that Hass’s comments were serious and constitute an incitement to violence and terrorism, while encouraging murderous terrorism.

"In determining that it is the right and duty of the Palestinians, who are, as she claims, living under foreign rule, she legitimizes the violent terrorist acts, encourages them and even incites them when she calls to expand them into other areas,” wrote Cohen.

The Legal Forum said that "throwing stones at Israelis should be called by its real name - an act of terrorism. Treating it any other way may cause an escalation in the phenomenon, which is supposedly justified.”

The Forum added that Hass's words have been making waves among PA Arabs and have even been quoted on the website of the Hamas terrorist organization.

Cohen wrote in the letter that "the gravity of the remarks is reinforced when the toddler Adelle is fighting for her life in hospital as a result of stones being thrown at a car, and one day after the verdict in the murder of Asher Palmer and his infant son Yonatan, which stipulates that stone throwing is even more dangerous than drive-by shootings.”

"The timing of the publication of Ms. Hass’s remarks indicates true support for activities aimed at killing innocent people, and also increases the severity of such activities,” added Cohen.

Cohen concluded the letter by asking Weinstein to launch a criminal investigation, adding that "justification for such acts aimed at killing cannot be accepted in the democratic game, and she must be severely judged to the full extent of the law.”

I think this article is pure BS.  Firstly their claim that Kahanists are prowling the streets looking for haredi dropout youths to snatch up into a kahanist cult is a friekin joke.  Just laughable claims.

The claim that no one is willing to work with these youths is a flat out lie.  There are shelters with this specific purpose in mind to help keep these youths off the streets and off drugs.  There are certain rabbis who run programs for this population and raise money from american donors for it.  There's a specific term for these youths used in israel but I can't remember it now.

Further I'm not an expert on this topic but I'm pretty sure most of these youths still dress haredi despite being OTD or even on drugs.  The two boys in the surveillance video do not have kippas on.  I would think a haredi dropout kid who ditches kipa is very rare but someone please fact check this.

This article is designed to turn the haredi or haredi aligned english speaking population against nationalists and nationalism, particularly Kahanism.
