Health care worker being tested for possible Ebola at New York City hospital
http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/10/23/health-care-worker-being-tested-for-possible-ebola-at-new-york-city-hospital

A health care worker who recently returned to the United States from West Africa is being tested at a New York City hospital for possible Ebola, health officials said Thursday.

The unidentified doctor was working with Doctors Without Borders and returned from one of the three West African countries afflicted with the disease within the past 21 days. Officials were contacted after he reported a fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, according to a statement from the commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

The patient was transported to Bellevue Hospital in New York by a specially trained HAZ TAC unit wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).

"A person in New York City, who recently worked with Doctors Without Borders in one of the Ebola-affected countries in West Africa, notified our office this morning to report having developed a fever," Doctors Without Borders said in a statement.

"As per the specific guidelines that Doctors Without Borders provides its staff on their return from Ebola assignments, the individual engaged in regular health monitoring and reported this development immediately," the organization said.

Preliminary test results are expected in the next 12 hours, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene commissioner Mary Bassett said in a statement. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also retained a blood sample from the patient, officials said in a statement.

“As a further precaution, beginning today, the Health Department’s team of disease detectives immediately began to actively trace all of the patient’s contacts to identify anyone who may be at potential risk,” Bassett said.

“The Health Department staff has established protocols to identify, notify and, if necessary, quarantine any contacts of Ebola cases,” she said.

Bellevue Hospital is one of eight hospitals designated by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to treat Ebola in the state.

The Ebola outbreak has infected nearly 10,000 and killed at least 4,877. The three West African countries hit hardest by the virus are Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

This is bone chilling news.
How can they possibly track all his contacts since returning to the states?
It makes no sense.  In NYC.
If people want to travel to and from West Africa, they should be quarantined when they come home.  Not self monitoring in the general public.
Look at the TV doctor who went out for soup.
Let's reopen Ellis Island.

I know, for a fact, most healthcare workers are not prepared or comfortable with the thought of caring for an Ebola patient.
So, how about a temporary travel ban on people coming into the US until we are better prepared?

The problem is political correctness. It would be racist to do what any normal person would do to defend the country from African viruses. It's just like when someone says they don't know the motive when a Muslim attacks someone. Terrorism is terrorism even when they don't work for an official terrorist organization.

That "doctor" is nothing but liberal scum to go over there.  Remember, he worked for Doctors Without Borders...an evil left wing organization.  He should have stayed in West Africa.

Remember how Obama shut down flightsntp Israel?

They don't do anything because its Africa and it would be "racist"

It is a true case of Ebola.  He tested positive.

He even went bowling.  Isn't that great?
Why aren't returning volunteers with Doctors Without Borders being forced to stay quarantined?  It seems they are in the thick of it.  If people want to risk their lives volunteering that is commendable.  Why risk ours?  It should be a mandatory quarantine.  I don't care if it is a hardship for them.  Then stay home.

Why ask why?  Apparently, Obama wants this deadly virus to spread in the U.S..  Otherwise, why not close our borders.  Just wait until people really go into panic mode.

FLEEE NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, Hazmat suits, gloves and gas masks.. That guy was all over the city, coughing, sneezing touching stuff..   The government failed us and New York would be the absolute worse place in USA for Ebola outbreak considering how crowded of a city it is and how much of a transit hub it is for the rest of the country..   If there are more undetected infections, New York and our country could be doomed.

If any of you don't own a firearm, now would not be a bad time to go buy one or acquire one somehow or other.

I know more people who went to Africa to help black Christians. Nothing wrong with that.

I hope the virus will get to the most evil leaders in our country and not harm righteous people. Please Gd.
