An Israeli soldier was lightly injured Thursday morning in a stabbing attack at Turn 160 on the road linking Kiryat Arba to Hevron in Judea.

According to an initial investigation, the knife-wielding Arab terrorist, a 23-year-old resident of Hevron, approached a group of security forces whereupon he stabbed a soldier in the face.

The soldier immediately recovered and pushed away the terrorist as he prepared to stab a Border Policeman standing nearby. The policeman then fired and eliminated the terrorist.

The soldier was first treated by IDF medics, as Magen David Adom teams from Jerusalem made their way to the scene.

MDA spokesman Zaki Heller reported: "At 8:08 a.m. MDA's Jerusalem precinct received notification of a young man injured in a stabbing attack on the road between Kiryat Arba and Hevron."

"From the first reports, the young man was immediately treated by IDF medics and was then examined by MDA paramedics, who brought him to a hospital in a military ambulance. His condition is very light and he is suffering from cuts to the face and head."

The soldier has been brought to Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem for further treatment.
