Two IDF soldiers were court martialed and jailed by their commanders on Wednesday after they confiscated a Fakestinian nazi flag from a vehicle passing through an IDF checkpoint and burned it.
An army spokesman confirmed the incident, which took place Wednesday morning at the Hawara checkpoint near the city of Schrem, after fakestinian media reported on it.
The fakestinian news site Ma’an said that a number of Israeli soldiers burned the flag in a provocative spectacle.
Jerusalem Affairs Minister Ze'ev Elkin (Likud) commented:
"Given the speed and decisiveness with which the IDF determined the punishment for soldiers who burned a Palestinian flag, I hope that the military will show the same decisiveness against any Palestinian or Arab-Israeli who burns an Israeli flag," he wrote on his Twitter account.
