In order to fool the public into believing "they are doing something" against terrorism. The phony right-wing government of Israel, passed a new law by a 62 - 47 vote in its final reading that allows 90 members of the Knesset to expel a Knesset member that they accuse of supporting racism or terrorism from the Knesset.
On the surface level this law was designed to stop Arab inciting Knesset Member Hanin Zoabi.

However, like in many previous laws to "protect Democracy" the only real victim of such a law could be (although I hope it isn't) a future Kahanist, if he happens to somehow make it in to the Knesset.

This law like all the previous laws to protect Democracy leaves a loophole that allows the left-wing Supreme Court to undo the decisions of the Knesset, so just as in practice, the Court has never applied the law to ban Arab Knesset members from running for the Knesset; the only one they banned in practice being Kahane, so too, the court as it currently is made up, would not allow an Arab Knesset member to be removed.

In addition 47 of the members of the opposition opposed this law in principle, because their Arab supporters do not like the symbolism behind this law. To expect to win over enough of the 47 to actually ban an Arab MK in the near future is highly unlikely.
