Katz and Jews in History
« on: April 22, 2017, 08:01:07 PM »
Cats have long been accused of many evils.

When plague was ravaging medieval Europe, there were many more dead among Gentiles than among Jews.

Why?

Jews didn't kill cats, as they weren't superstitious towards them.

Where Jews lived, cats took care of the excess rat population which was the true vector for the disease.

Since the plague seemed to spare Jews, they were often accused of being the cause of the epidemic and persecuted for it.
