This is such a good lesson to be learned about worshipping idols. Exodus 32:15 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp. 19. And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that "he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. 20. "And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strewed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it. 21 And Moses said unto Aaron, "What did this people unto thee, that thou has brought so great a sin upon them?
The People were unable to wait for Moses, and they broke the second commandment by persuading Aaron to make an image of God to satisfy their idolatrous lusts. Aaron sinfully submitted to their demand, and not only produced a replica of the familiar Egyptian God Apis, (God of Nature). but called for a feast to the Lord which was really turned into the abominable orgy, (that they are set on mischief.)
Chaim made a good point, how did they succumb to this after their miraculous rescue and Exodus out of the hands of Pharaoh and Egypt? They knew God was really God. Man will always be flawed and desire something material to worship. The human plight. Thats why so many people are incapable of believing in something they cannot see. Thats what faith is all about, the spiritual ability to believe in truth, its about principles, discipline, to hold fast to truth and not sin.
