Mitzvah to settle in Eretz Yisrael

<< < (2/2)

Hrvatski Noahid:
My friend Yehonatan said that Rav Moshe ben Nachman (Ramban) when writing his commentary on the Rambam's enumeration of the commandments wrote that he was very confused/shocked how the rambam did not add the mitzva of living and inhabiting in the land of Israel as one of the 613 commandments. Well done Chaim for explaining the reason.

Rubystars:
I wish they would allow you to go home one day Chaim. I know it's your heart's greatest desire to be in Israel and it really hurts to know how much you want to do that and to see you get denied your birthright.

Yehonatan's addition:

"Jews who are already in the land of Israel are only allowed to leave the land for 3 reasons. 1) They are offered a match for marriage that is very compatible/worthy considering. 2) They are desperate for livelihood and have an opportunity outside of Israel. 3) If their personal Torah teacher rabbi left the land, one is permitted to leave in order to follow one's rabbi to learn Torah from him. Otherwise, it is actually forbidden according to Halacha to leave."
