I think the American involvement was pretty limited and yet had some good results in helping the Kurds establish a zone of controll, keeping Turkey and Russia and Isis away from that corner of Syria. On the other hand I can't really argue against the principle of not sending your troops to fight other nation's wars.

They should have created Kurdistan. Bush should have created Kurdistan in 2003. Just like his father failed to kill Saddam Hussein in 1991, he refused to create Kurdistan when he could have.

Trump wants to avoid the involvement in Muslim regime change that George Wahabi Bush tried in Iraq. It worked in Afghanistan. They overthrew the Taliban and eventually Osama was killed by the US when the other Osama occupied the White House. Then was the time to leave. "The war in Afghanistan" is not the the US's longest war. It's not a war. It's just a patrolling of the area that sometimes involves killing Muslims. It's basically a police force in the region. The was was over years ago as soon as a new regime was in place.

Saddam Hussein was a secular Muslim madman who kept the Islamic terrorists in check. The Taliban was itself a terrorist entity that took over Afghanistan. There is no comparison between the two wars. The war in Iraq was won and then the US had troops patrolling the area for no reason due to the stupidity of George Wahabi Bush. If he was in charge now, he would try regime change in Syria. Assad is the lesser of the evils in charge. Let them fight each other.

Bush wanted to take the war to them so they wouldn't fight the US in the US.  Trump's idea is better. A travel ban on terrorists from Muslim countries is the real way to avoid September 11 style attacks.

Let them fight it out with each other.  At least we won't hear about how The Joos caused Americans to fight and die in Syria.
