What's up with Russian "Jews" & Xmas trees?
« on: May 22, 2019, 08:13:11 AM »
What kind of Jew puts a Xmas tree  in their home?
My family also came from the FSU & they all made sure that their sons had a bris, kept kosher& Jewish holy days & the idea of an Xmas tree was repulsive & repugnant to them.
They were Yiddish speaking Jews who were either religious or traditional.

Asherot are forbidden for Gentiles. They are certainly forbidden for Jews.

How much mutual intelligibility is there between Yiddish and German, in your opinion?
Gentiles are obligated to fulfill the Seven Noahide Commandments because they are the eternal command of God, transmitted through Moses our teacher in the Torah. The main and best book on details of Noahide observance is "The Divine Code" by Rabbi Moshe Weiner.

I meant the trees used for idolatry (an asherah). I never heard of Easter trees.

Ishtar. I know the gay Easter Bunny has to do with pagan Spring fertility rites. Did that involve Ashera trees?
