Try reading your Torah again, it is as natural for men and women to court each other as it is to breath, for example, Sampson and Delilah, okay that didn't turn out so good, but anyway, cmon, please. Where did you get this puritanical sense of things? It is natural, healthy and human. Maybe it's the term "hittin on" that you are fixating on, the sleazy connontation, well call it something else then.  :)

Well the general picture that people get in their heads of guys hitting on women is basically trying to seduce them into a one night stand. I think what dannycookie means is simply trying to talk to a women in order to get to know her - to see whether she is right for you or not. If that's the case, that is what you're suppose to do. You can't meet one woman and hope she's the one. I "hit on" women.. but I'm still trying to get them to respond  :-X

its ok i am use to being single like being under a warm shower...

i like to refer to the single life as the "empty white room syndrome" where the person just gives up in trying and accepts that things for themselves are going to be like that always...

however bad your life is I'm sure there is someone who's life could be considered worse. I have suffered a lot more than any kid my age should have to, but ultimately in my eyes I'm far richer than all my friends (even if not monetarily). Our wise Rabbi's say "Who is rich? He who is content with what he has." Be content and you will be rich

Shyness is definitely a curse, you've got that right. But eventually you break out of that I think. Do you go to temple at all? Or do you do any types of activities that women are apart of?

It sounds like finding a girl is what would make him happy. I'm the same way.. I have good friends and family and a good job, but I still wake up everyday with an empty feeling. And I even get down right angry when I see couples walking down the street.
