Are you a Noachide or is that just a user name? If so, why.
-
Because I am not a Jew. I renounced my former religion to become noahide.
-
What religion were you before you became a Noachide?
-
This is going to raise some eyebrows, I used to be muslim.
All of my relatives are muslim except me.
-

Congratulations for leaving that disgusting cult. Are you afraid of your relatives? Will they hurt you if they find out you left Islam?
-
You are aware that apostasy is punishable by death according to many Muslim scholars, and that many former Muslims have been killed for that reason ?
What do you think of Islam ?

Afraid yes. and most likely become disowned.
You are aware that apostasy is punishable by death according to many Muslim scholars, and that many former Muslims have been killed for that reason ?
What do you think of Islam ?
Certainly aware of the consequences. I always thought the religion is dangerous in my young years and did not want to tell any of the muslim friends and always said to myself this can't be the true religion if violence around the world keeps happening in the hands of islamic extremists. The whole religion is just weird to me especially about the kabaa being built by Adam, then got destroyed, and then rebuilt by Abraham. I find muhammed to be boring.
So I remained halal and always refrained from adultery but I was never religious until 2 years after 911 when I researched all three Abrahamic faiths for several years to reach the conclusion that I find Judaism the one true religion.
-
I find muhammed to be boring.
Don't you think he is far worse than "boring" ? Is it really the appropriate word that comes to your mind when thinking about this man ?
-
I find muhammed to be boring.

Not exactly the right word for his actions. I was referring to his revelation about his illiteracy, a spider that saved his life, then became a prophet through dreams after reciting the quran, and then miraculously became literate.
It just seems superstitious. It's like going to a psychic teller for a fortune.

Let's say he was superstitious. What about the fact that he practiced and promoted theft, lie, rape, murder, pedophilia ?
-
Hello. Can you tell us a little bit more of your background. Like Which country does your family come from ?
-
This is exactly one reason I left islam. I found him to be a terrible role model. An example I can't seem to ever condone if he murdered people in cold blood. According to muslim scholars and imams, the Jews of Quraza tribe wanted to murder mohammed. That is why Jews are loathed by Muslims.
-
Hello. Can you tell us a little bit more of your background. Like Which country does your family come from ?
Without going into too personal details of myself, I'm a US born citizen of Yemenite descent.
-
How do you feel about Christians? Would you ever have any Christian friends?
-
Do Noachides have something like an organized institutions, like synagogues or something ?
-
How do you feel about Christians? Would you ever have any Christian friends?
Apparently, being from the states I do have many Christian friends as well a few Jewish friends from my homeland country.
how do I feel about Christians you asked? No thoughts in particular. I don't care what religion a person follows or if they're atheist. I like the fact it is a melting pot society with plenty of diversity among people and cultures.
Do Noachides have something like an organized institutions, like synagogues or something ?
According to a rabbi I spoke to, synagogues are not necessary for noachides.
Noachides still do follow Judaism and have organizations.

Shalom Noachide,
I have found the following websites which provide great information for Noachides.
http://noahidenations.com/
http://www.noahide.org/
http://www.bnti.us/
http://www.bnti.us/links/bnai_noach_links.html
I want to say Yasher Koach Noachide... It warms my heart to know that people are finding the truth of Hashem through our Torah. The Jewish people should be proud of you and your congregation...

This thread made me think of this song. "Returning to the universe, give out the word, abandon earth"

Now that it's permitted, have you tried pork products?

you're kidding right?
Why would I be kidding? I thought you were allowed to eat them now that you're not a Muslim anymore and since you haven't adopted actual Judaism but are a Noahide.
Think of it this way, what better way to make a final break with any Islamic thought.

I rather you shoot me in the chest than me eating a disgusting animal such as a pig. It smells awful for crying out loud. Jews do not consume pork. Are you a Jew? I follow what's right including abstaining from pork and any immoral acts.
I really want to be a Jew but I can't for two reasons: one is because it is very difficult to do Ger and the other is my family risking an isolation.
-
As for islamic break, I do drink sometimes :)
-
I wonder why anyone would encourage someone to eat pork... That is really odd.
Do not try to tempt a Noachide toward gentile foods. If this Noachide indeed wants to be a Jew you are putting a stumbling block before him. I am sorry if this is harsh RS, but I am ashamed of what you are doing...
Noachide, I am a Baal Teshuva who has returned to my Jewish faith and taken on more Jewish observance. In the years I have been exposed to the gentile life here, I developed a taste for bacon and ham.... I have abstained from both that, and the forbidden combination of milk and meat for almost eight years to this day.
Do not even try it if you ever want to make the full conversion... You will thank me if you stay away from it...
-

Lean pork is just as healthy as lean beef or chicken or turkey. I suggested it as a psychological break from Islam, and everything I've read said that his current religious status would permit its consumption.

He never said he wanted to be Jewish before I said that. He is a gentile. Of course if he stated that intention to convert I wouldn't suggest that.
Now that he has I wouldn't suggest it again.
-
As for islamic break, I do drink sometimes :)
Ok good for you! Just don't go overboard! I've had a bottle of wine for a couple of years and haven't touched it, I keep planning to get around to it eventually. ;D
I'm not going to ask you to do anything you don't feel comfortable with... it was just a suggestion but if you don't want to that's fine too.
Are you a Jew?
No

Dear Noachide, what kind of music do you like?

Metal bands from Israel are growing in number. Winterhorde and Orphan Land are great Israeli bands.

I like some metal too. It kind of varies from song to song though.

One thing I'm curious about. Why do Muslims completely freak out if someone draws a picture of Mohammed, saying it's idolatry, but don't have a problem worshipping a black rock?
-
One more question... do you like Pirates or Ninjas better?

I tend to prefer pirates ARRRRRRR!!!! but why is the rum gone?

One thing I'm curious about. Why do Muslims completely freak out if someone draws a picture of Mohammed, saying it's idolatry, but don't have a problem worshipping a black rock?
I'm not the best person to answer this as I was a moderate/secular Muslim so here goes: In general, muslims are very sensitive people when it comes to their religion. Images, pork food, alcohol, even if a muslim woman is seen without a headscarf in public, muslims would go outrage.
They believe someday all humans will be muslim when the messiah comes to destroy all other religions. If you notice many muslim families often produce high number of children and stray away from important sufficient goals like not sending their children through college due to lack of funds or can't even make decisions for themselves because their parents won't let them.
Their religion claims all the prophets beginning from the first man Adam were all muslim, claims islam is the only first religion, it claims Ishmael was the sacrificed son of Abraham instead of Isaac, claims Adam built the kabaa, got destroyed, then Abraham came and built the kabaa. At one point it used to contain 360 idols inside after muhammed came along destroyed the idols. Too much violence littered throughout islamic history in the early stages during those times in this brutal despicable religion.
I just can't see myself following in a religion that dictates unfair harsh rules towards people of different faiths and have a bloat load of violent history towards innocent victims in such a measly 1431 year old religion. I believe everyone should be treated equal unlike dhimmi status 2nd class citizens in mideast countries.
One dangerous belief that some know is muslims are permitted to lie to people as long they are from another faith.
-
That was a really great post! Thank you for sharing all that great information. I believe that you are for real, but if someone says they left Islam, how do we know they're telling the truth? Barack Obama for example, he is supposed to be a Muslim apostate, but people on JTF mostly believe he still is a Muslim.

good question, I have pictures to prove that I traveled to Jerusalem this past summer on a archaeological and holy journey six months ago. I visited the Kotel and told Jews there that I became a Noachide. Believe it or not, I wore the kappah and prayed at the Wailing wall.

Oh ok. :)
Sometimes people have said they left it and I wonder about it, but I do believe you. You seem like a nice person.
Ninjas
Why do you like ninjas better?
-
Ninjas look stylish cool with the swords and martial arts doing imaginary stuff like teleporting.
A pirate to me is more of a nomad roaming around sea to sea.

I love the quote from Captain Jack Sparrow though about "follow that horizon!" Very free and liberating... of course, real pirates were just scoundrels. lol I like fictional pirates though.
I do like how ninjas can move around quietly though! Sneaking through the shadows, assasins lurking... kind of scary!

Do you see Noahidism as a valid religion in itself for people or just a stepping stone, or in-between point, to conversion to Judaism?
-
Do you see Noahidism as a valid religion in itself for people or just a stepping stone, or in-between point, to conversion to Judaism?
I see it as an external universal belief within Judaism. I'd say a stepping stone. I found Judaism to be much harder to convert than I thought a couple years ago.
I'm surprised no one asked me how I discovered the religion.

Ok, how did you discover it?
About 5 years ago, I stumbled upon Jewish history in my parents homeland county Yemen. At that time I would socialize with my yemenite jewish neighbors at work each day they got off school. I knew nothing about Judaism or how Jews ended up in Yemen. When I researched its country's history I was fascinated about the tribe of Dan that settled in my homeland after the destruction of the Solomon temple in nebudazener times the Jews were dispersed and ended up in my country and brought Jewish culture fused with Yemenite traditions and customs.
I found the Jews in that country practice a preserved form of Judaism kept thousands of years as I notice the Tefillin worn were much original ritually and differed a lot among the Jews in the whole population. I found Yemenite Jews are the few Jews that kept the original traditional rituals preserved to this day. From this point on, I became eager about Judaism and discovered many surprises.
This is what fascinated me about Judaism for over a 3 thousand year old religion and to find that the nationality of my Yemenite people have a minority people following an ancient mysterious religion turned out I want to follow Hashem with Mitzvots in the true faith.
-
That's an interesting story. Thanks for sharing it.

several downsides I dislike yemen:
3rd world nation
It continues to have a staggering high birth rate in an already high population.
addiction to khat leaves is very common to all age groups including children.
it's a dangerous environment in some parts especially where the Jewish tribe lives.

I always loved the Yemenites for their letting their Peyos grow long...
We share that trait with Yemenites... My family comes from Ukraine where the Breslov Chassidic sect also kept the custom to grow the peyos... I have let mine grow for almost 4 years now...

You must not have read what he wrote. He wants to be a Jew, has intentions of converting. Why would anyone want to put the desire for pork in a person who has never had it if that person wants to convert to be Jewish? Do you not agree?
See this was the post which I responded to:

It absolutely is not!
Sahih Bukhari Hadith Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176: Narrated by 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.'"
Sahih Bukhari Hadith Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177: Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."
You won't be able to pull that pro-Muslim stuff here, it won't work.
-
never got around reading many hadiths and don't intend to (lol) but I'm exactly familiar what you wrote.
Muslims consider the Quran to be their primary source while hadith their secondary source.

Noachide, would you type and post this statement: "I publicly denounce Mohammed, spit on his memory, and piss on his grave"?
Sure as long as muslims don't go jihad towards me. but seriously, I try to refrain from blasphemy and hate when one chooses to be holy. I am more rather anti-islam than anti-muslim. the reason I posted that video "islamic zionism" is because many jews are not aware it clearly states in the quran that the creator blessed the jews their land Israel. That was the point I was implying to make. so logically all muslims and christians for that matter should abide to this belief.
ironically, many muslims do the opposite so the problem in this world is islam. If there is one group of people I despise most to substitute your statement, it is the hoodlums along with their N word slur. Those parasites have no respect for themselves and should not breathe the same air as law abiding citizens.
heck I might as well
I publicly denounce islam with its false prophet muhammed and 12 caliphs spit on the umma, and piss on the kabaa.
-
Hallelukah!
That is an excellent step away from that despicable cult. A true spiritual seeker can see that islam is sheker/false. It is great to know that JTF attracts free thinkers and seekers.
May your path be blessed Noachide...

This video is a piece of elementary propaganda trying to make Islam look like it's tolerant. There are two facts that make it very spurious :
1) It leaves aside the vast number of completely intolerant quotes from Islam's holy scriptures
2) It pretends to accept the existence of Israel BUT as long as Jews melt into the Muslim crowd. Where does it mention Israel as a Jewish state ? The message is clear : Jews may temporarily live in the Land of Israel as dhimmis, and in one generation or two they will have turned into Muslims anyway.
There is absolutely NO way that Islam and Zionism are compatible with each other. Islam gives infidels no choice but to convert or die. According to Islam, Judaism and Christianity do not even exist, Moses, King David and Jesus were Muslims. Muslims will never accept the existence of a Jewish state, however tiny it may be, in the middle of what they regard as Islamic land.
-

According to the Quran Abraham was a muslim, and Moses, and David were all muslims. Also the Quran claims the Jews hide and fake the Torah so that they can deny the validity of the "the messenger" Muhammad. The only good Jews in the Quran are the traitors Jews who accept Muhammad and convert to Islam.

update
just told my indonesian muslim neighbor I left islam. she says it is a drastic mistake that I did and allah will never forgive me for leaving islam.
-
Why do you care what a Muslim says anymore? You left Islam right? Turn your face to the real God and pray for that woman that she will stop being deceived.

Truth is I have/had a crush on her. she does not wear the head scarf, but she refuses to think I'm sane. you're right I have to focus on the real message. barekh hashem

I think if you have a relationship with her while she's still a Muslim, then one or both of you will be hurt. If she leaves Islam then the story might be different.

Isn't worshiping Jesus idolatry? Chaim calls some evangelical Christians righteous gentiles. I used to be a Christian, but I've come to realize from Jewish literature and videos on the matter that it is just pagan nonsense.

That is very good... Yes indeed there is an issue when it comes to venerating, worshiping, or idolizing a physical being {be it a star, the sun or moon, or man himself}.
I do not differ in opinion with Chaim as I respect his authority here. This issue has been debated and although there is no clear halachic conclusion to the question most Jewish JTFers agree that Hashem is the ultimate judge of whether a person is righteous or not. JTF should not close itself to the help from non-Jews if they sincerely want to help Israel. Any alterior motives are not really our concern because we believe that Hashem causes everything to happen in this world (and in all possible worlds), and he has promised that in the end the Jewish people will return to Israel and Moshiach will come and redemption will be accomplished. This redemption will come with, or without, the help of the nations... But those who assist in the redemption of the Jewish people will be judged more mercifully than those who stand against Israel.
This is my opinion on this topic. You should ask this question to Chaim if you like...

I think it sounds more Arabic rather than Muslim. The pronunciation is "Kice"
which by the way is also my nickname. I like it.

To the 2nd question, I received a fatwa letter against me last week if I don't return back to failslam, otherwise something will happen.
No, just kidding. I didn't get a letter;D Seriously, my dad is okay with me leaving islam. but he is not okay with me converting to another religion. He's secular and a good dad.
However, I did get surprising reactions from my Indonesian neighbors; they're really polite people in their Asian culture. But when the religion topic comes up, it starts getting quiet and one response I got from the daughter of their family was "I am crazy and Allah will never forgive you" over the phone after I came back from the pilgrimage in Israel on that same year.
At least she said it in a polite manner.
Other than that, her family accepts my decision and they seem to be okay with me only except we don't communicate anymore to the whole family sadly. I missed socializing with them:(
I do tend to be around with Asian people often. It's like a happy down to earth world every time I'm with them.
-
I'm glad that you didn't really get that letter!

Is it normal for Muslims to keep their windows Blacked out all the time? I never see my Muslim Neighbors lights on ever.
-
Might want to get an opinion from the FBI on that one too.
Here's my question:
Is it normal for Muslims to buy huge quantities of milk at the grocery store? My brother and I have seen Somalis do it on a number of occasions. Is there such a thing as a milk bomb in the Muslim world?
Ya I'll do that! I was asking if it was a cultural thing. Thanks Dan!

It is common Muslim families keep their appearance dim indoors to prevent their women drawing attention to outsiders. Blinders are used often in every window including kitchens when they're cooking, eating and stuff; so that way neighbors or strangers won't get a glimpse of Muslim women.
They don't have to wear head scarves indoors, but they must wear it when family visitors and friends are invited over to eat jihad food.
Also, Muslim women during outdoors often wear black burqas and niqabs (3 layer head scarf and face covering) to avoid luminance popping out to males. Hence, black being the darkest color.
There are exceptions to all this in certain muslim countries like in the Asia pacific.

Hello Noachide,
When you entered Israel, did the airport security gave you a "special" treatment due to your ethnic background ? Have you ever encountered special suspicion or alert during security check out in Israel or other airports ?

This is a funny and a sad story.
Unexpectedly yes in Ben Gurion airport there was also a Caucasian visitor next to me from England waiting in the outer lobby, so I thought it was no big deal at first as I'm a U.S. citizen.
The funny part is I was catching a nap in that lobby from a jet lag thinking it is not going to be a big deal since I have my Tanakh with me and contact phone numbers from Jewish friends in NYC, then one of the agents approached me and I woke up from that jet lag and said come politely, and went to an office and asked me some general questions like "Is this your first time in Israel?" "Do you know anyone in Israel?" the female agent barely understood me after I showed her contact info from friends.
Then she made a phone call and that's when things were becoming much more serious. I went to the lobby to wait again then was appointed with 2 airport security agents in another room, one nice and one angry. They asked me those two previous questions in addition to what I do for a living and what me decide to come to Israel. Their english was not well spoken but I understood what they were asking.
I said pilgrimage. During the interview I was dozing off a bit lol. They did not buy it. As soon as I said I want to also go to Hebron, the angry agent flinched out of his chair and raised his eyebrows at me LOL, so I showed them my business cards, my holy book, guide book, heavy metal, my laptop, the videos I have with Christian friends along with my story leaving islam and coming Judaism.
It took 3-4 trips going from the lobby to the office waiting about 2 hours until I was frustrated but at the same time did not feel discriminated based on my ethnicity as there were White and Arabs next to me.
If this whole incident was caught on film, I guarantee a handful here would laugh at the funny events.

So did they try to call anyone from you contact list ? would the treatment you received at the airport prevent you from visiting Israel again ?

I guess they called when I handed them my cell phone and charger while I was at the lobby.
Yes the questioning prevents me to visit Israel again. It is too much hassle for me and I have to catch some sleep after long 18 hour flights to any country.
They also questioned me about my visit to countries in India when they saw my Indian visa on my passport and so I told them about that visit.
Other than that, I have no problem with Israelis.

You know your story of leaving Islam and coming to Judaism would be great for YouTube. You don't see too many Muslims going this route. It would be a great counter to all the propaganda videos that Muslims put out about how stupid people convert to their third world terror cult. You could also mention what draws you to JTF, something like this could potentially get us a lot of publicity. Have you thought of doing something like this?
As much I want to inform publicly, I can't because of relatives and fear.
Secondly, I was never a "Muslim". I've been secular my life except I went to a madrassa (school) on a sunday in my young years here.
Never set foot in a mosque or prayed in 20 years.
In fact, if I show you guys my facebook page, I don't look Muslim or Arab.
If you have further questions, ask away.
-
The screening process is far from perfect. I nevertheless think profiling is a correct method to use. I think if you do intend to revisit, perhaps one of your friends in Israel could initiate a call himself to the airport security and ask them to be nice.
-
Great suggestion on revisiting.

I had a Ben stiller moment XD

Hello,
I have a question about Noachides. Do Noachides pray and if so how? What kind of relationship do you have with Hashem?
I don't know if Noachides have any set prayers like Jews would have the Amidah or Shema. I mean you have 7 laws to follow but any blessings or prayers?
I've just always been curious.
Thank you

I spoke to a Jewish woman who gave me advice, Any human can pray but if one is a Noahide, you should at least recite the word Hashem during "prayer" without prostration usually that's the case. One would close their eyes, focusing only to the creator with their heart, and requesting Hashem for a better livelihood. There is no specific way to pray for Noahides.
In my situation, being a Noahide is insufficient for me because I know I found the truth, I want to serve the creator in becoming righteous including to pray in the Shul, however it is extremely difficult/impossible to leave my relatives to declare openly I left Islam.
This can't happen anytime soon as I wish to.
-
Wow that's very interesting. Thank you for sharing. I've always wondered this and have wondered if Noahides say Psalms as well.
I did hear that there is or might be in the future a Shulchan Aruch for Noahides. I've always wondered what kind of a relationship a Noachilde has with Hashem.
Thanks again for your reply.

Didn't Yemen have a Jewish king and was Jewish dominated before Islam? Do you like Yemenite Hebrew music? (Zion Golan, Ofra Haza, a few others but those are the main ones I can think of right now)
-
I have to find the name of the kings that resided there if any. I'm not even yemenite except by background. I do believe I have Jewish ancestry from that country though. Lazy to do a Dna.
I heard of a few mentioned Jewish music you listed. Laid back stuff. I do share Jewish Metal music in the Judaism Torah forum, I gave a few users there confusing thoughts XD
You'll find a music thread there.

I don't think DNA tests can find "Jewish ancestry" do you consider yourself Arab? do you know arabic?
-
Yeah Arab with Turkish from my grandmother side.
My arabic is not fluent, I wanted to learn hebrew, but that did not go well with my muslim folks.
-
What religion do you follow?

Hello "The Noachide",

I have to say it is the highest among child brides in a poverty nation. Very common in rural environments in the mountainous areas in the south.
I remember visiting there after the civil war in 1994 and things were normalizing there. Yemenites are traditional ancient people but with an obnoxious personality for unfamiliar outside culture. They got upset when I showed my US passport to officials after arriving Sana capital.
The food is great, the tradition is ancient, I don't like 3rd world nations and the behavior of many of them.

Orphaned land is folk oriental Metal. Very widely recognized in the Metal world.
Global Metal is a good documentary you might want to watch.

What do you think about gat leaf chewing ?
-
It's an epidemic. Little kids often use those leaves out of desperation then they get addicted as they grow older. The BBC reported that Yemen is now a nation of khat users and addicts.
I tried it casually. Find it a time consuming activity to sit 5 hours with people socializing in a rectangle room with their hookah pipes.
My regret in life is touching a cigarette. Quit at 17 when I started at 11, now I only drink and vegetarian.
