To first few minutes.  I like your Reish.  I lack the ability to roll the R.

You don't lack any abilities. It's all learned. Do you think I was born pronouncing Ayin, Heth, Teth, Sadi, and Quf?

I'm a voozvooz just like you.

Well, good to know there is hope.  I've tried for years to roll the R but to no avail.

Well, it's kinda easy. Try to tremble the edge of your tongue, but not using "L" but with a bit, bit behind that part of the tongue.

It's pretty samiliar to the russian R...

Why do you like my Resh so much. I figured there were more interesting consonants.

that website you uploaded too is very suspicious..

I am currently downloading the files with internet explorer, from a LUA(limited user account) so any exploits it tries cannot do any real damage.

The site does not let you download in firefox. It tries to get you to manually install junk before downloading, and cannot be skipped

I did mess up my computer a bit some days ago soon after downloading them(I was aware of the risk), I managed to clean my computer up somewhat. I don't know if that site was the cause.

Once I have downloaded them(with IE, from a LUA), I will zip them up and put them on a better site!
I will also up the volume with freeware called mp3gain.

Currently doing it.. I have time. Will be done today.

The mp3s are great.. I just listened to the first one. I think I have the Tet/palatial T.

here are some links to a zip of your mp3 lessons.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9S6BP5IL

If anybody has an issue with one site, they can try another one.

Thanks, q_q_.

You're really great.

You're greater!

What you are doing is so important..
A discussion forum is the perfect place for it too.

Rabbi Bar Hayyim's stuff is unique, it is a great shame that thus far his stuff is so badly presented on the internet.  His torahlight site has vanished. He had an old site with shiurim - I think on shulchan aruch, I never saw it while it was up, but it vanished too.

I know he has his machonshilo site.

Lets make sure your stuff doesn't dissapear!

Very good try, Sarah and it is very close to the way in which many people pronounce Hebrew in conversation.

But just as there is a difference between the way that Americans speak English and the King's English, there is a difference between common Hebrew and Proper Hebrew as I have detailed it.

Here is another small clip. Have a listen.

myalfabet.wav - 7.35MB (http://www.zshare.net/audio/7229347a221d2d/)

P.S.

The letters Bet, Gimmel, Dalet, Kaf, Peh, Shin, and Tav all have soft sounds, meaning if the letters has no dot in the middle it is pronounced differently.

I have made this audio showing the soft sounds as well as Sheen which if the dot is placed on the left it is pronounced Seen.

Thanks. That clip is very clear too......boy is it a mouthful of letters!

Hebrew is an amazing language.

Most languages are either consonant rich or vowel rich.

Hebrew is rich in both.

that was great.

http://www.2shared.com/file/2808746/1dd0f238/myalphabet.html
converted to mp3 it is 600KB.
I converted it with audacity (SUPER by eRightSoft was not converting it for some reason)

also, the other file sharing site crashes my browser.. 2shared.com is safer.

It is better if these things are on a few sites until we can find a more permanent organised backup solution.

Why does your Chet sound exactly the same as Hey?  Also the two Gimmuls sound exactly the same with only one being softer than the other , isn't the one with the dot supposed to be J?  Also are you using the Askenazi Sauf as being the correct one, I thought everyone says that we are wrong?

The Het and Heh do NOT sound the same. Listen again.

And the Gimmel is NOT supposed to be Jimmel. Rav Saadya Gaon says so. And the soft Ghimmel is pronounced properly as a Gh sound.

And I am NOT using the Ashkenazi Sav, I am using the correct Thaw. TH not S.

<snip>

not that kind of issue. But really technical issues.. I often download the files for safe keeping.
I found that site would not let me download
a)in Opera browser,  in firefox too i vaguely recall
b)in internet explorer when using a limited user account, it crashed my browser many times.
And that is very suspicious.
I also had some computer problems soon after downloading files from that site with an administrative account .

many issues with that zshare site.
It may just be some bad luck.  But in contrast, 2shared has been fine.

You did very well, Dexter. Although perhaps the Ayin should have been slightly more harsh.

Now try to do this with the Ghimmel, Dhaleth, Khaf, Feh, Sin, Thaw.

It was hard for me to pronounce Ayin yesterday because I was hoarse. About Ghimmel, Dhaleth, Khaf, Feh, Sin, Thaw, I can pronounce all of this, very easy.
