So Putin is the lesser of the evils when it comes to him and Liberman. It was the same when it comes to him and Obama.

In some ways Putin is the lesser of the evils. However, Putin is very dangerous. He clearly wants to re-create a version of the Russian Empire. Another Cuban Missile crisis is definitely something to be concerned about as well. This could be used as leverage for Putin to expand Russia's territory, directly and/ or under Russian puppets.
