Its light, very easy to use, and is one of the few side arms that is comfortable for a woman to use.

Single action pistols are better to shoot but a bugger to carry. They're either cocked & locked (quick to use but not too safe) or chamber empty (safe but slow to get into action).
I still say a double action revolver is the best personal defense handgun.

I can't fault the 1911, I was introduced to it via the Marines. I have to say it never once has let me down.
The design has remained generally the same since it first was produce.
As I said most other side arms are not comfortable for women.

I have a hard time getting females involved with semi-autos, most of the ones I met like the revolvers due to lack of moving parts and ease of cleaning. I have met a few girls who like Glocks and stuff like that though.

Generally because the grip is not made for woman's hands, and the weight ratio is not right. Many will not go for semi's.
Glocks have a more unisex feel.
I think because most women when learning to fire get bitten they tend to go for something more suitable.
But the Plastic Fantastic's I really suggest they try.
I will pull out a few I think women should use. Due to ease and comfort.
