I'd like to buy a whole goose to cook in the oven. They're really large. I've only seen non-kosher ones. The ducks they sell are small because they are ducklings and are rectangular shaped.
I cooked a goose once and that was enough. I addition to being gamy, there was about 2 inches of fat at the bottom of the pan. It totally turned me off to goose.

My grandfather hunted, and I saw them hanging in the garage...no way I would eat that.
Same with deer, lol I remember the hell he caught from my grandma for not locking the garage door and my sister and I walked in on that poor headless deer hanging upside down while his head was in a huge basin on the workbench, we screamed and ran better than any scary movie preformance....my moms family always ate that wild game, duck, deer, moose, and fish from numerous fishing trips. I remember proclaiming loudly when i was about 6 that "the beef had gone bad" at a family dinner, it was venison stew....lol couldnt even fool me back then:P

Yes, it was pretty gross seeing that, I dont like hunting.... i only shoot paper targets :laugh:
I dont kill animals.....I will however kill a spider, cant stand them, and if they dare come into my house they get beaten with a shoe or magazine until they disappear.... >:(i just hate creepy spiders.

I'd NEVER shoot anything harmless, cute or furry.
Crocodiles, alligators, man-eating sharks (tigers, hammerheads, great whites, makos etc) and snakes are another matter.

I want to get one for Passover. The last one I had a whole duck in the oven was on Passover 10 years ago. That was the only time I ever bought a frozen duck to make at home.
This is really a good choice. Fat ducks are tasty. O0

I think ducks should be banned. They are worse than Muslims.

I warned my son,you kill it you eat it.He killed a robin and he had to eat it.By the way it wasnt bad!My kids thought it tasted like chickin.LOL :::D

They're was a piece on the news a few days ago about a schwartze who shot a duck with a pellet gun on Long Island. Fortunately, the duck lived and has been adopted as a pet. O0

I'm sure you can guess what I think should be done to that schwartze.

Duck is a very fatty meat, shoud only be eaten as a treat.

This is from what I wrote to Chaim on this week's Ask JTF.
On Thursday Night, I made my Passover duck in the oven for the first seder cooked in tomato sauce. But the sauce got mixed with orange duck fat so it's a combination of orange fat and red sauce and it tastes really good like when I make a beef brisket in tomato sauce. I guess Chaim wouldn't like the fat part and that I also ate the skin. For the second night we had a chicken. The birds were to represent The Chagigah and I also ate lamb both nights to represent Korban Pesach since Sfaradim are allowed to eat lamb at the seder.
I have never eaten duck with tomato sauce. I like it with apples, raisins and fresh roasted bread stuffed. For the sauce I take the gravy.
You don't have to put the fat to the garbage.
You can combine the fat with roasted onions and some small apple-cubes. Add some salt and pepper and a bay leave. Now you have to put it in a ceramic pot and to cool it down.
After it is hard you can eat it on bread. :)
