Title: Concert at Nazi death camp canceled
Post by: Dan on November 03, 2007, 09:58:26 PM
A rock concert planned for Saturday at the site of a World War II Nazi death camp in Belgrade was canceled after protests by Jewish groups.

The Serbian organizers of the concert by the British band Kosheen said the event was canceled after "pressure from foreign and domestic media."

Some 48,000 Jews, Serbs and Gypsies perished at the Sajmiste camp in the 1940s.

"We hope that the big publicity created around the Staro Sajmiste site will be used for solving the problem of renovating the place," said the concert organizers, the Long Play company.

Efraim Zuroff, the Simon Wiesenthal Center's chief Nazi hunter, in a statement Friday called the planned concert "a heartless insult to the memory of the victims of the Nazis."

For Serbia's dwindling Jewish community, the planned concert was the latest indignity to befall the site, which they say needs to be saved from decades of neglect.

Nearly all of Belgrade's 8,000 Jews were killed at Sajmiste soon after it was set up in 1941 at the site of the Belgrade Fair exhibition ground. Thousands of leftists and Serb nationalists also were killed at the camp.

Most of the inmates were murdered while being transported in "gassing trucks" — vans with their exhaust pipes attached to the sealed cabin — to mass graves on the outskirts of Belgrade.

OK, So Why is THOMPSON allowed to preform ? Where's the Protesting with that?

We should discover WHO /WHAT
is this owner (of the site).

How can we come to this ?

Any idea, someone ?

 ??? ??? ???

Is he a NAZICROAT,
since they ALSO LIVE in Serbia proper,
after all (!!!) that they did to us ?
No wonder,
then, for his WILL to DESECRATE
such a site !!!
HE DESERVES PUNISHMENT.

Is he a Serb ?

We should ask him
what he thinks of 40 000 Serbs
murdered in this
NAZICROAT DEATHCAMP.
And tortuuuuuure him
for what he intended !!!

Owner of "Staro Sajmishte" site is the City of Belgrade.
It is an residential area, people actually live in that WWII croatian nazi concentration camp.
I've been there many times visiting some people I know.

After WWII, communist government led by communist dictator "Tito" (croat), had an opinion that it is better not to talk about croatian nazi atrocities so much.
I think thats why they let some homeless (Belgrade was bombed 3 times during the WWII) people to live there rather than to make museum, monument or so...

Unfortunately, Belgrade is full with unmarked mass graves (not just sites), mostly people killed by communists after their "liberation" of Belgrade (some of these sites are city parks now).
Also there is some "graveyards" of people that died in german artillery bombardment in 1914, places are mostly unknown, I think thats because Serbia wasn't officially present after germans occupied Belgrade right after that bombardment.

Its not unusual for construction workers to found skeletons of few bodies when they digging to place, "base of building" (I don't know how to explain it better in english).

For me, most interesting story is one that claim, that below socrer stadium "FC Obilich" is mass grave of hundreds of nazi soldiers,.
According to that story, hundreds of german soldiers that died in battle for "liberation" of Belgrade (by Red Army and Yugoslav communists) were collected from streets all around Belgrade and buried there where soccer stadium is today O0

Some people are joking, when german socrer team guesting there "stadium is allways filled with their supporters"

I read once that this site
is not the property of the State anymore,
but of a private owner.
As long as it was property of the State,
you didn't have such a shameful story
as this one about a concert on it.

I'd like to have the name of the owner.

Serbia is a mass-grave of Serbs.

Too little germans are buried there,
compared to what they did (!!!) to us.

Communists! They are everything all, but less of all they are Serbs.

Owner of "Staro Sajmishte" site is the City of Belgrade.

Government in city of Belgrade is in hands of Democratic Party, what is mean in communist hands.
