I think all members here know how to write emails.
Everyone has to have one and use it in order to sign up for this board.

Maybe you're asking perhaps how it is done at the low level like how it's sent from the email server's view?

Perhaps you're talking about headers, encoding?

Do you want to set up an email server?

Perhaps he's trying to get into spamming?  What do you mean, rationalthought?

What do you mean about the "e-mail server's view" and by "headers"?

Let's say you see an email that starts like this:
Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2007 15:12:02 -0600 (CST)

From: eWEEK <[email protected]>
Reply-To: eWEEK <>
To: [email protected]
Subject: IT security in healthcare: What issues do you face? (Survey)

The full header that the server sees would look like this:
Return-Path: <[email protected]>
Received: from eweek-zannounce.com (mail.eweek-zannounce.com [205.162.43.7])
    by jtf.org (8.13.7/8.13.4) with ESMTP id lJKLC2sb005821
    for <[email protected]>; Mon, 19 Nov 2007 16:12:03 -0500
Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2007 15:12:02 -0600 (CST)
Message-ID: <7Oz1ccocrTaJEawgDRDMgrV.mT.1195906120824@OMS09>
From: eWEEK <[email protected]>
Sender: eWEEK <[email protected]>
Reply-To: eWEEK <>
To: [email protected]
Subject: IT security in healthcare: What issues do you face? (Survey)
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary=----4Oz1ccmcrTaVEaegDRDMgrV.mT
X-MailSessionID: 4Oz1ccmcrTaVEaegDRDMgrV.mT.1195506720624

So, what is it you're trying to do?
What's the secret?

I know how to right emails to online personal ads to charm lovely women into going on dates.  8;)

And I know how to write the ocassion rediculous email to make a friend laugh, but that's about the extent of it.

I wanted to know if it's possible to change the date that ends up on the header.

I think the email server that routes the email puts the time and date stamp on it, so to do it, you'd have to be the system administrator for that server.

If you had an email server and the email message was created on it, you can set it to whatever time and date you want.  However, once it gets routed over the internet it will be time stamped with the date of all the hosts that forward it until it arrives at the destination.
