A walk along the beach ended in hospitalization for a 73-year-old Ashkelon resident, who was stabbed Saturday while strolling along the city’s Bar-Cochba Beach.
The victim, Zary Asayag, was treated for laceration in her temple by Magen David Adom medics, and was transported to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon in moderate condition. A 25-year- old suspect was arrested following this incident.
A paramedic told Ynet: “We found the victim lying near the bathrooms with marked bruising to her temple. She told us that a stranger, whom she did not argue with and did not steal anything from her, had stabbed her in the temple and fled.”

Asayag told Ynet that she was attacked while walking into a restroom along the Ashkelon beachfront promenade. “I found it strange that a man would walk into the women’s restroom, but I shrugged it off. Before I knew it he held a knife to me and stabbed me from behind. I felt the blood run down my face and began to yell. It felt like I had lost massive amounts of blood,” she recounts.
“A young woman tried to bandage my head with her coat, and 15 minutes later I was transported to the hospital. I had a terrible, terrible headache.”
The suspect is still under arrest and awaiting trail for aggravated assault.
Bystanders managed to subdue the suspect who was later arrested by police. Police at first stipulated that the stabbing was politically motivated, seeing as the suspect was a 25-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank Village of Dora. However the suspect claimed that he had acted under the influence of narcotics.
Asayag, on her part, is not convinced that the stabbing was not an act of terror. “I am not sure that he had stabbed me while under the influence (of drugs),” she said. “He was quite clam when he stabbed me, and I was told that when he was interrogated he told the police that he has set out to stab a Jew.”
“I am sure that he had stabbed me because I am Jewish and he is a Palestinian”, she says. “I hope that he is severely punished,” said Asayag, “because he stabbed me today and he could very well stab someone else tomorrow.”

Typical arab-muSslim-nazis. In '47, and '56 they always headed straight for the schools and old peoples' homes to attack!
