German national facing charges
Police say suspect under arrest posed as an FBI agent.

Wellington -- Authorities booked a German national Monday for posing as an FBI agent in a car that had more equipment than many sheriff's deputies do, the Sheriff's Office said.
Uwe Lorenz, 45, who lives west of Lake Worth and whose visa expired in 2001, was arrested after driving his black Crown Victoria -- equipped with a police scanner monitoring the Sheriff's Office, DUI video camera mounted to the grill and two radar antennas -- into a community in the 4400 block of Isles Reef Drive by identifying himself as an FBI agent, the Sheriff's Office said.
'I am here on police business,' Lorenz told the security guard at the gate, according to a police report. Then he changed his story and said he was there to see a friend. Lt. Jay Hart told the security guard to let him in and called backup. He pulled him over.
The Sheriff's Office charged Lorenz with driving with a license expired for four months and for possession of a police scanner in conveyance. He is in the county jail, held without bond.
Federal charges, which he is to face in court today, include an alien in possession of a firearm. Lorenz allegedly had a .45-caliber Ruger handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun, which was found in his home, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said. The FBI also is investigating whether to charge Lorenz for allegedly impersonating an FBI agent for personal gain.
