I think we should show respect to our gentile members by closing down the forum for Christmas. What do the rest of you think?
-
No.
-
Absolutely not. This is a Jewish forum.
-
not me... are we goyim now...? nik.
-
I don't think so. I doubt even Christian forums close down for Christmas. Christmas isn't like a shabbat for them or anything. If Christians want to come on the JTF forum and tell us how wonderful their Christmas is going, they can!
-
why should we close this Forum for foreign holidays ?
:-\
Is Google or Yahoo closed ?
-
no!
-
no, this is a jewish forum, we should never acknowledge goy holidays
-
There is no ruling against doing work on Christmas day, it's just custom, in fact, I may be online for a little while tomorrow.
-
It's a nice thought, with the best of intentions but completely unnecessary, it's Christmas, not the Sabbath.
And so, to our Dear Christian friends.
Merry Christmas! :)
-
No, I don't think it should be closed!
However... I do think that we should be respectful to the Christian members on the forum and not Discount Christmas as just another goyim holiday.
Merry Christmas!!! :)
-
I voted NO. Christian Holidays include rest, but only from real work. Christians are not requested to refrain from using a PC, turning a light on, cooking and so on. Ritual rest is only in Judaism, even more, a Gentile who does ritual rest is in danger according to Talmud.
-
No and it doesn't bother me that it is open on Christmas

I like your response. I just want to make it a little more visible.
-
Very well. I stand corrected.
Merry Christmas to our gentile friends!

Not all Gentiles are Christians. Not all Christians celebrate Christmas.( J witness only accept a version of Easter) Not all Christians who do celebrate it, do it tonight (Orthodox Christians do according to Juluan Calendar, Armenians on other date)

Same for Easter Sunday, the Greek Orthodox for example celebrate the following Sunday.
And January 7th is what we call little Christmas it is technically the day after that people bring their decorations and tree down.

Simply, this is a Jewish forum! Besides, "christmas" is a blasphemous act, it has NOTHING to do with christianity, and is in fact, braking the rules of both Christianity and Judaism=fearing gods. Paganism and sun worship.!

Which branch of Christianity do you follow. I know that some Christians reject Christmas (like the J witness) but today's Christmas is not intended to worship the sun. Some argue that Christmas is offensive to Jesus because he never celebrated his birthday according to the NT.

Well, i am of protestant branch. HOWEVER, no sub Protestant branches, as unfortunantly they have all been infiltrated by the blasphemous vatican. I therefore do not go to church, because as i say, they follow under the catholics. I am a die hard anti-catholocist.
I don't follow 'christmas' and or easter, which are all pervesions of the vatican.
Indeed, in fact, there is NO evidence that Jesus was even born on the 25th. But i can tell you whom were born on that day, several sun gods. etc etc....
-
Christmas isn't even a religious holiday
it's just a bunch of propaganda.
However if it were really religious then yess.
but in this case then no.

Yes!!! O0 O0 O0
Ive made a new friend ;D

Boergeneral is right.
x-mas is a pagan holiday adapted by Constantine for the 'new' state religion and easter is a rip-off of Pesach.

Indeed, and it makes my blood boil seeing this deception! >:( >:( >:(
In fact!!, in the Torah/Bible, it is actually forbidden to havea Christmas Tree!!!!!!!!!
I did some research on this perversion called 'christmas' and boy, it's satanic all right! Im thinking of making a video about it.

In any case, a Happy Erev Kwanzaa to all of you!

There is no ruling against doing work on Christmas day, it's just custom, in fact, I may be online for a little while tomorrow.
Is there a rule for Christians doing work on Sunday or other Christian holidays?
well, sunday has become the sabbath due to the perversion by the vatican. Unfortunantly, people do not keep to hat rule as much anymore. But yes, the Bible does say that we should not work on the Sabbath. So really, it's fine to work on sunday, but not Saterday, seeing that that is the REAL Sabbath.
-
He is more righteous than you. He is a Torah observant Gentile while you are a Secular Jew.
Yacov, i admire your leadership and authority. but i think we should not be comparing each other. know what i mean. But no offene to you Yacov, just a thought ;).

The Bible says JEWS shouldn't work on the Sabbath, not gentiles.
-
mmm...ok. Well, i have not read it in such detail. However, it's is Church policy of preaching rest on Sunday. ??? So ja, i don't really know then

Yacov, that was really unnecessary. It is up to Hashem only to deem who is righteous and who isn't, and NewYorker was just making a joke.
-
I think I am to blame, I teased Raul in the other thread about Merry Christmas. Raul needs to lighten up.
-
No
-
absolutely not!!! Thats not what Christmas is about.
-
no

Christmas isn't a time for people to abstain from electronics or work unlike shabbat..
however it is a time for people to be with family.. i myself went to my family an hour away for this momentus day and all Christians should try to be with family..
having said that this is a jewish forum and all non-jews need to respect that Christmas is not a festival for the jews to observe for reasons others can explain..
Short answer is no but on such an occaision true bible believing christians will want to celebrate this time and be with family rather than on forums

hmm, debatable.
Anyhow, to be honest I'm a bit of a loner, I can't sit with my family all day, I start feeling uncomfortable, I have to be on my own for a bit, hence why I'm here right now...

Family can be great, and friends are quite often fickle.

Please be respectful toward your fellow Non-Christian. He is more righteous than you. He is a Torah observant Gentile while you are a Secular Jew.
I don't claim to be righteous.
Regarding Gentiles' Holidays, SOME Christians are requiered to abstain from REAL work on Sunday and their other Feasts according to their Chruches, but not to abstain feom ritual work, like using electricity.
However, according to Torah, a Gentile cannot make a holiday for himself. He can choose a day to rest, but it mist NEVER be the Jewish rest with all the details. And the Gentile must have in mind that his rest is voluntary and not a mitzvah. Hashem allowed Gentiles to work everyday. Whoever pretends to add to Hashem orders is placing his moral ideology over Hashem's Law and thus sinning. Generally Noachides choose Saturday (Seventh Day) for their rest. But remember that the rest MUST NOT be in the Jewish manner, and the Noachide must have in mind that his rest is voluntary, NOT MITZVAH. Otherwise he'd be claiming to have more mitzvot then the Seven given to him, that would be rebelion agaist G-d!!!!

Just a couple things,
First, I would like to wish JTF and it's Jewish members a MERRY
CHRISTMAS! Same goes to everyone else reading, including my
Christian brethren.
Literally, Christmas means “Mass of Christ” (i.e. celebration of Christ).
The account of Jesus' birth can be found in (Luke 2:1-11). Of course
many of you are quite correct, no where in the Bible does the word
"Christmas" appear, but at the same time no where in the Christian
Bible are we told not to celebrate the birth of Christ. As a result, I
personally don't have a problem celebrating Jesus' birth at Christmas
time. On the act of commercializing the whole thing though, I don't
agree with it, and that's a whole other matter we won't get into.
Secondly, as a Judeo-Christian, a Christian Zionist, I would like to
reiterate my full support for the Jewish people and their right to ALL
the land of Israel (Genesis 12:1-3). It is my duty to love and support
the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, and I do. If I could I would
even join up with the IDF and stand side by side with it's Jewish soldiers.
"For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I
will not rest." (Isaiah 62:1) The Jewish people are the "apple of G-d's
eye" [Deut 32:10, La 2:18, Zech 2:8]. I support JTF in their struggle
and it's fight to save Western Civilization.
Some of you have pointed out the theological differences between
Jews and Christians, of course we are not naive, we understand the
main theological difference, Christians believe Jesus was the Jewish
Messiah and the Savior of all mankind. Jews, on the other hand, have
always held that Jesus was not the Messiah, and that they are still
awaiting Him. This is no surprise, and time will tell who is right. In the
meantime though we share a common goal and we stand together,
side by side! Christian's have a mandate from G-d to help the Jewish
people and the land of Israel and I will honor that until the day I die.
PS -- Oh, yeah, the other thing: Whoever said the J. Witnesses were
Christian's was incorrect. They're a cult. They are kinda like Mormon's
in that they they want everyone to think they're Christian's but they
are not. Their founder, Charles Taze Russell, was nothing more than
a clever con-man who stole from the Bible.
Well, I hope I haven't offended anyone as that was not my intention.
It's an important time of the year for Christians, just trying to keep it
real.
Thank you, and my prayers are for you.

True
Family is great.
None of us are perfect...we are stuck with family and family is stuck with us. ;)
Thank God

I think we should show respect to our gentile members by closing down the forum for Christmas. What do the rest of you think?
Christianity does not forbid it's adherents to use electricity at any time ever. So this whole discussion is moot and pointless.
-
i voted no b.c there are no prohibition on working on Christmas. You buy gifts and all the stores are open why should this forum be closed then ??
-
I agree with Chaim.
And for me personally, it doesn't really matter one way or the other.
No big deal. :)
-
i voted no b.c there are no prohibition on working on Christmas. You buy gifts and all the stores are open why should this forum be closed then ??
Your right! O0
It should not be closed.
??? Just remember for some Christians it is not all about the gifts. It is unfair to make it sound that way.
It is about our Faith and time spent with family.

Yeah it is really sad, when you see christmas being turned into almost a commercial holiday by the shops..... cheapens it which is horrible.
Though the decorations and spirit in december in the city, make it the best month of the year.
Spending time with family is what people need the most these days, and its a great factor of Christmas.
-
JTF is a JEWISH Forum.
Closing it for Shabbat is absolutely normal.
Closing it for Christmas would be stupid,
weird, unnatural, abnormal, wrong.
JTF doesn't close EVEN for Hannukah.
8;)
Since I am an Orthodox Christian,
my Christmas is on january 7th,
and catholics have it on december 25th...
Closing JTF for these Celebrations is unthinkable.
(For me as a Goy,
even Shabbats are too long a time to wait
for being together here...)
-
Christian holidays do not have the restrictions Jewish holidays have
Even if they did, so what? This is a Jewish forum and Christians don't have to come on here on Christian holidays if they choose not to.
exactly
-
Not at all. What about easter?
-
Same with easter.
-
I dont mind that its open on Christmas or Easter.
