Title: Announcment: Today Is Yom Kippur Katan
Post by: admin on February 05, 2008, 12:52:00 AM
BS"D

29 Shevat, 5768

My synagogue is holding a Yom Kippur Katan Mincha service Tuesday Afternoon to mark Erev Rosh Chodesh  because rabbis in Israel suggested it. This is to fight off the evil decrees of Bolsheviks trying to divide Jerusalem, to stop the terrorism coming from Gaza on The Western Negev, and the government persecution against religious Jews and yeshivas in Israel.

Yacov Menashe Ben Rachamim,
Chief Administrator.

I saw in arutz sheva that a whole bunch of Haredi rabbis in Israel also called for a day of fasting to help save Israel.  Whoever can do this from sunrise to sunset, it can go a long way!  I think they also said to say tehillim.  If I was in Israel I would also picket at the houses of Shas ministers and rabbis.  All of these things should help save Israel.

Some fast, not many. But in Israel, due to a severe water shortage and with threats to Jerusalem being divided - some including, ironiclly the Shas faction in Olmets Gov't (really Ovadia Yosef) and other Charedi factions are calling for fasting and prayer!

How about goign up and arms to make a louder point than fasting?  Fasting sounds like what Ghandi did.

Wait, so the fast is Tuesday (today), or starting tonight?

Because I've been fasting from last night until sunset tonight... so if the fast is just starting tonight, I won't be able to fast for two days in a row.

So this isn't considered a holiday?

jewish festivals tend to be

Holy Days  rather than holidays.

some of these days have similar restrictions as shabbat. Not this one though.
