Pines-Paz Submits Bill to Outlaw Jewish Outreach to Minors
14:56 Dec 12, '06 / 21 Kislev 5767
(IsraelNN.com) A bill submitted by Labor MK Ophir Pines-Paz would prosecute one who assists someone under 18 in becoming more observant - or less.
The bill would possibly affect members of the Chabad-Lubavitch and other outreach movements, as it would dictate penalties for such activities as setting up stands to put teffilin on passers-by. Those who try to shift religious youngsters away from religion would also be prosecuted.
According to Pines-Paz, the phenomenon of young people returning to religion is causing the break-up of families and “causing damage to minors."

What is teffilin?

Thank you.

I don't see this as a problem that needs to be outlawed. My mental image of this is the same as Christians passing out leaflets on a street corner.

I guess this goes to show one of the problems of modern day Israel. Imagine a nation that is religiously and culturally based in which some residents actually want to remind youth of that religion and culture. Shocking!!!

I have no problem with it as long as The OUTLAWS are the ones in power.
The State of Israel seems to be suffering from worst case collective mental illness syndrome.
