The forum will close for Shabbat Kodesh at 6:00 P.M. and re-open Motza'ei Shabbat at 8:24 P.M..

This Shabbat we begin The Book of Leviticus.

This Shabbat is Shabbat Zachor, the Shabbat before Purim. It is a Torah commandment for all Jews, both men and women, to hear the special Torah Maftir reading from the second Torah, which is fulfilling the commandment to remember what the evil Amalekites did to us when we left Egypt. It is an eternal commandment to wipe out the memory Amalek and to never forget. There is a special Haftarah about when King Saul was told to kill Agag, YM"S, the Amalekite ancestor of Haman but spared his life, giving him time to procreate the line that would like to Haman, YM"S, before Samuel The Prophet finally killed him. JTF is committed to fighting Amalekites wherever they are.

It is written to blot out the memory of Amalek.  Yet, if we blot out from our memory of Amalek, won't history potentially repeat itself?

Therefore, if we should never forget what Amalek did to us, what does it mean to say "blot out the memory" ?
