Title: Entering the temple mount
Post by: takebackourtemple on March 24, 2008, 08:09:11 PM
Here is a halachic question. I know the answer is most likely "no", but I thought I would ask just in case it is a loophole. Jews are not allowed to ascend onto the temple mount, but what if we could descend onto it through the means of a helicopter or such? The reason I'm asking is because we have a catch 22. The cohenim need the temple to become pure, however, they have to enter the mount in order to rebuild it.

I believe no, because from the ground to the heavens is Holy. (I heard it some time ago).

I believe that if a holy object is in the possession of non-Jews or our enemies it is permitted for any Jew to save the object or to claim the holy piece of land.

Isn't that possible even by prohibiting arabs from going their (no one can enter) and also not permitting Jews to currently enter either. For the time being until the Hachamim decide, no one can enter.

It's clearly worse that the Muslims are there. The question is how can the mess be cleaned up in a way that does not violate the sanctity of the holy place?

what if a Jew entered the Temple Mount without knowing that it wasn't allowed, is it considered a sin?

Is the punishment severe like death? If it is like Shabb-t for example then even if not known their would be some suffering sent from G-d on the person. + ignorance is not allways an excuse.

My big question is whether this applies to the temple mount in its current state or whether this just applies when a temple is there. Obviously hashem does not concentrate his presence inside of a Mosque. I'm not saying that we should do anything that is going to desecrate his divine presence, but something needs to be done to reclaim the temple.
