Hello Cancangal,
Did you notice that two of the films you listed unfortunately starred the anti-semite, mel gibson? They were good films I must admit, but the association makes me ambivalent about recommending them.
-
Perry Farrell from Jane's Addiction made a film called The Gift in 1998 that I really liked.
Two other favorites are Primer (2004) and Pi. Primer is a really complex time-travel movie that is more like a physics test than anything else. I thought it was fascinating though.
My favorite comedy of all time is Better Off Dead. You basically can't go wrong with a John Cusack film. The Grifters is another one of his that I like.
For those of you really far out there, I recommend The Cremaster Cycle by Matthew Barney.
And just because I saw it on TV the other night, Spinal Tap.
Oh, and of course Animal House, Stripes and Caddyshack.

Neverending Story

Neverending Story
A very old film I remember. ;)

Superbad! Although it has lots of foul language and crude humour, it is pretty funny! :::D

That's my absolute favorite :)
I also enjoyed Secret of Nimh.
It seems like most of the movies I liked the best I watched when I was a kid.
-
"Even dwarfs started small"
"Party time"
"Magnum Force"
"G-d told me to"
The Three Stooges "Disorder in the Court"
-
Easy. The Godfather. Other films I like include Godfather II, Chinatown, The Great Escape, The African Queen, North by Northwest, The French Connection, and the first five James Bond films.
-
GoodFellas, Casino, Once Upon A Time In America, Bull Durham, Rocky movies, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Jaws, Shawshank Redemption, Caddyshack, and a bunch of cheesy horror films. O0
-
By the way, MW, are you compiling a list since you might have a little extra time on your hands in a few days when the Rangers get knocked out. :::D Sorry, couldn't resist. Tough games to lose so far.
-
The Godfather - best movie ever made.
Also any Stanley Kubrick film. Check my username 8)

Yes, I forgot the Kubrick films. FMJ, Shining, Clockwork Orange, and Eyes Wide Shut, all great.

Mutiny on the Bounty 1935 ~Clark Gable and Charles Laughton. The question was: What film did you like. I like all of those films. I know about Mel Gibson's cohorts, he has also paid the price for it. It is not the 'actor' ~It was the FILM that I liked, and its meaning is strong to this day, and it is DEFINATELY a film that I would recommend to any person that does not give a blast for freedom.
The story of William Wallace, is very close to my heart, My grandfather was a Scot.. The Bruce of Scotland killed my 17th generation grandfather in the Church of the Dumfries for being a traitor.. the reason I am the way I am today, is because it was engraved on all of my family's heart to never sell out, nor be treacherous, after that icident took place. I know my heart and my values are pure, no ill will was ever meant toward my being Jewish, nor to offend a person on this forum. Please know my heart: I LOVE G-D.

No criticism meant. I too liked the films and don't doubt where your heart is. I see that "The Passion" was not on your list. :::D

David ben Moshe makes fun of me a lot because I am a SAP, and love the good old classics, he usually tells me: "Thats a Girls movie." ~But, he LOVES Sleeping Beauty!! LOL O0

Understandable, Katz's is good stuff.

I love Katz too, but haven't been there in a long time. Have to get there sometime, but I've heard the quality has dropped. >:(

:)Ari- go to Katz's early on a SAT AM- you will get what you remember. There are a lot of the Peurto Ricans there, and they all speak rican.. It is irritating to me, but on SAT AM, YUMMYYYYYYYY. David takes home like 50 lbs of the pastrami and fills the fridge, so he doesent have to go back for 6 weeks or so, he also buys so many coca colas and pepsis, that the basement is full. I'm like: What is UP with the cokes DUDE! HE just says: they were on sale, cant miss a good sale. ALSO, that movie "Chocolat" THAT movie makes me want to eat chocolate all day, every day.
-
Sounds like a good plan, CCG. Thanks for the info. O0

Well, either that, or show up at Davids house, and say "Hey its ARI" from JTF-
But, he will probably say: NO, NO PASTRAMI FOR YOU.
He is a little controlling over that pastrami- wait til I get back there, I'll share. :) Ya know, you all live in NY, this is RIDICULOUS that we all dont meet- when I get there, WE WILL. This is silliness. What do guys think?? ~Another funny flick was OVERBOARD with Goldi Hawn and Kirt Russell- that was kinds cute. BBL SHALOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
-
That'd be great. I'd bring the mustard, pickles, and dessert. :)

I like anything by Michael Mann, what's awesome is he's of Jewish background. I like his movies and storylines because they don't question the audiences intelligence.
Michael Mann made
Heat (wow the bank shootout was amazing in this movie, and he kept the original gun sounds in the movie, music to my ears!)
Collateral (Awesome movie, about a hitman)
2 of my favorite movies.
I also liked..
Black Hawk Down
Saving Private Ryan
Munich
The Way Of The Gun
Natural Born Killers
Lord Of The Rings (thought the books were better but the movie was pretty close)
American History X
40 year old virgin
Team America
Lord Of War
Blood Diamond
Hmm can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Blazzing Saddles
