Title: What is your line of work/occupation?
Post by: White Israelite on May 21, 2008, 09:10:34 AM
Just curious what everyone here does for their line of work?

I work for a company as a IT guy, I do all their networking, fix the computers, maintain servers, administer windows and linux software, and work a bit with fiber optics. I am also learning how to program in PHP.

You're an IT guy? Didn't get outsourced?

PHP is great. Very easy to learn and very capable.

You are a very talented guy.

No, there is a lot of physical work required, hardware maintenance, physical networking and scripting. You can't outsource something that requires a physical presence although a majority of my work can be done from a remote location from a laptop anywhere in the world.

Oh- you fix computers? What is making mine run slow?
I used to fix it by 'system restore', but  now it says, 'cannot be restored to this date' on every date available. LOL
(yes, I run Ad-Aware, anti virus)

Will they come by your house in a black van and smuggle you away if you say something?

Oh, that's ok. Mostly kidding. Don't want to bother anybody.
