I just got an email saying that my hosting company has suspended my blog, The Urban Grind for a T.O.S. violation. The customer service rep said that someone was spamming people from my account. I have no idea how it happened. And now he left me on hold! >:(

Weird things happen lately ...
By the way:
JTF, do you have to log the ip-numbers?
If the host is not 100% reliable, this is not good.
Obama is not an easy prey. Those guys have influence.

I'm not sure I understand your question.
Normally I can see the IP addresses of commenters from my Wordpress control panel. However, I can no longer access it.
-
Spammers shut down the site? Doesn't the website have security of some sort?
-
I'm not sure I understand your question.
In the jtf forum there is a tag "logged" on each message.
I think this means that the ip-address of the poster will be stored together with the message "indefinitely".
If the host is not trustworthy or has to comply to legal measures, this can be use as a basis to get the identity of the poster.

OK people, my site is back up.
Here's what happened. I had these two plugins installed on my server, that notify people when someone responds to their comments. And that post I mentioned yesterday has almost 500 comments. So apparently, some idiot thought that all the responses to his/her comments were spam, and had me reported for a T.O.S. violation. No doubt it was an Obama supporter.
Suffice it to say, I removed those plugins, and the site is back up, thank G-d.

Lisa. This might have been a coordinated attack against your blog. Just 1 guy reporting spam will probably not shut down your account, even if he does it over and over again.
-
ahhh that really sucks!! i hope you get it figured out :)

is the hosting guide filled with incompitent that just singled you out

Does your web hosting company have affirmative action problems?
It seems all companies have affirmative action problems. :(
-
It is great, that the problem is fixed O0

Just call a bank or the veterans adminstration they all are affirmitave action

Same thing happened to me on Blogspot. I ended up switching to typepad - they said my blog showed up as spam, but there's no way in hell that it could appear as that. And that was right after I posted an article about Obama lying through his teeth.....

what about blogspot??

Your IP address is shown only to you and moderators. Remember that this information is not identifying, and that most IPs change periodically.
You cannot see other members' IP addresses, and they cannot see yours.

How would I find out if it's a coordinated attack? Do you think the hosting company would tell me how many people complained, or anything else about them? How would I find out otherwise?
Thanks.

Lisa, I'm glad your blog was restored. But what is the name exactly? I want to read it and I find several bloggers using the name Urban Grind and they don't seem to be you.

I don't know if this was a "coordinated attack", but I doubt your blog would have been suspended if it were a pro-Obama blog.
