I believe Georgia is at fault. While I know the Russian government will always be corrupt, Georgia's new president screwed this up for them, and now their Russia's [censored]. They forgot that 90% of South Ossetians have Russian passports. This means Russia can defend their people. And South Ossetia wants to join North Ossetia in Russia which Georgia would not allow anyways. The USA defiantly had something to do with this. Georgia "all the sudden" puts a major attack in South Ossetia right after talking with the US Secretary of State. What do you think?

From the news stories it's pretty clear that Georgia started it and that the U.S. had something to do with it, but Russia's response still seems totally disproportionate. I don't know what our leaders are thinking getting involved (and possibly starting) a conflict over there.

Ariana Huffington, her blog, and Frank Schaeffer are all stanky pieces of crap.

Georgia foolishly escalated the conflict into an all out war and they bombarded Ossetian cities (although to the best of my knowledge they gave three days for civilians to flee). Georgia also tries to turn this conflict into an international conflict between Russia and America.
Of course Russia invaded Ossetia and Abkhazia which are Georgian territories so the Georgians have moral right to respond militarily but it is also incredibly stupid of them to do so.

Georgia.
Saakashvilli foolishly gambled by launching a massive attack against S. Ossetia, hoping that the US and NATO would come in right behind him to help him.
