I've heard Rabbi Kahane and Chaim speak of this many times.  The lesson of the holocaust is not that the gentile nations did not help the Jews; The real lesson of the holocaust is that Jews did not help Jews.  This audio clip is very short but it is worth listening to.  For a greater elaboration on this, listen to Rabbi Kahane's speech at the holiday inn in Brookline (available on youtube or google video).
