Title: Are gas prices rising in your area because of Hurrican Ike?
Post by: RanterMaximus on September 12, 2008, 05:14:59 PM
Here in Southwest, Va, everyone is in a panic over the fear of supply in terms of gas.  Lines are forming at gas pumps and some stations are setting limits on the amount of gas you can get.  And yes, prices are up some twenty to thirty cents.  It's insane and yet disturbing, because it's obvious that this gauging.  Anyone else experiencing this where they live?

No, I think you misunderstand.  It went up from $4.84/gallon to $5.36/gallon overnight.

This is why I don't see the sense in not drilling.  Of course, we need to create new technologies that will make oil obsolete entirely, but in the meantime, why should we go broke to line the pockets of the wahabis and imams?

The price here has gone up 49 cents this afternoon. However the price of oil has dropped below $100 per barrell, and even though the storm is off the coast the gas in the ground was already bought. Gouging!!

Actually, Oil prices were at a 7 month low.  Went below $100/ barrel.

But they could and should go lower.

I hope that person in that truck didn't die! I'm hoping the power won't go out here but that may be wishful thinking. My great manager let me off work early today so I could come home and help clean the house.
