it was a little quiet and scratchy sounding. The old way seemed clearer to me.
-
I had to turn up the volume on my computer more than usual.
-
Mixed feelings. The sound is lower and a tad more muffled. At the same time, it is clearer and more constant-sounding.
-
For me, small differences in sound don't matter much. I listen for the content.

I use Audacity. It's a good program. But I have a feeling that whatever Chaim used previously was superior because the audio on this week's broadcast was not the best.
-
I havent noticed a difference

The new software sounds pretty good... :)

I set this up for Chaim. We were able to go from 40meg files to 17.39meg so we cut the file size down more than half. Do you think I should increase the quality? It will make the files larger.
Chaim already adjusted his mixer so the volume will be louder on the next program.

Obviously greater audio compression will yield smaller files at the expense of quality. I prefer quality over file size considering I have a 'fat pipe' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Pipe).

Ah, okay. That's the problem. By all means increase the quality.
-
Sorry, but for me, the old was clearly better.

I thought it was slightly muffled. Also, I heard a low frequency hum, especially at the beginning, though I run my computer through my stereo. These are pretty minor complaints.

Shlomo and Chaim, I think most of us have high speed connections. Even a dsl connection will be fast enough to download a 40 mb file or whatever in reasonable time. Its probably best to go higher quality if the options is available. I personally dont care about the quality of the audio as long as their are some shvartza jokes thrown in.

You got it. I setup Chaim's computer to encode a higher quality MP3.
