The police has stopped in the morning a Jewish rightwing extremist, who wanted to step into the city Umm el-Fahm near Haifa, where the majority is Arab. Baruch Marsel was arrested, because he endagered the public security and his own, the authorities mentioned. The politican wanted to be the head of the public election commission in Umm el-Fahm. Arab citizens threatened because of this that they would stop Marsel with violence. Marsel is a former member of the banned extremist Kach party.

He has the democratic right to serve as a ballot observer from his part. The attorney general of Israel had petitioned Bagatz about this, and LOST. But still the police decided to forcibly prevent Marzel from entering Um el-Fachem.
