Title: SKYPE A new way members can communicate
Post by: Minuteman on April 13, 2009, 11:14:13 PM
There is something new out there called SKYPE.  What it is is a system where you can set up an account with them and communicate with others who also have a SKYPE account for free.  You can also call a friends' cell phone and landline through your computer by use of your SKYPE account.  This will involve a fee however, but the recipent doesn't need a SKYPE account.

How it works is you set up an account with any name you want or that you can make up.   You can make serveral accounts if you want.  You then can add others who have SKYPE accounts to your contact list.  Then you can IM them if they are on the computer or you can by use of your headset and call them.(They need a headset and a SKYPE account to verbally communicate with you.)

That's okay. I remember when calls to landlines in the U.S. used to be free on Skype. I used to use it to keep in touch with relatives in Israel.

I've had Skype since 2003, nothing new. I don't use it much though to be honest, I use IRC but not for chatting, mainly for computer discussion.

Minuteman,

Thanks for posting about Skype.
I am not the most computer savy user, so it was interesting to learn about this service and members experiences with it.

Skype is great but it won't help us that much we want to try to get as many members as posible. Skype is also on the PSP 2000 and 3000 if you have sytem software 3.90 or higher.
