I would appreciate that you and Ulie educating us on the subject. I've never been to Germany (besides transiting through Frankfurt airport) and am quite familiar with the German history. I interacted through work with Germans and it was much less pleasant (for me), much more formal experience than similar interactions with Brits, French, Italians and Austrians - although not as formal as with Japanese (my favorites). Like I said before, I think that it was not by chance that nazism - an ugliest form of fascism took place in Germany. However, I do hope that Germans have changed. As far as stereotypes, I believe that Germans are incredibly talented people but somewhat challenged when it comes to improvisation and individual self-expression. I am looking forward to your analysis!

Never mind where I am from! Wether from the USA, Israel, Holland or Germany. I have a German background. That's enough to know for this topic.

I met many Germans. Most of the tourists are Germans in Hungary. (Germans, Austrians, Americans, British, and Hungarians from Romania, Slovakia, Serbia). Those Germans are very gentleman. They respect the laws and friendly.
But some of them really like the beer and sometimes they are drunk and that time they starting vandal (like last year they did in Siófok city, or 2 years ago?). But most of them are nice people. I also met Germans on the internet and the majority were pro-Jewish and pro-Israel. Only 5-10% were nazi or antisemitic. (Some Germans are nazis, some are communists, and some are very liberal who like the muslim nazis and Turks. ??? )
But I think the modern Germans are also educated people.
About Germany:
The government is half-antifascist but it is not anti-islam, so I have problem with the government. Germany is the second most beautiful country in Europe. Berlin is not my favorite city too "new" for me...But your towns are very nice and clean. Budapest is the most beautiful capital for me in Europe (and not because I live in Hungary). (Budapest has multicultural culture: Hungarian, Jewish, German, little Slav). :)
So in a sentence:
I have mostly good experience with the modern Germans. :)

I think Germans are good people. I have had many friends that are German here in the United States.

The only good Germans by and large are German Christians (like Ulli), who overwhelmingly are in America, not Germany/Austria. I have some good friends who are German (American Christians). But by and large they have always been a Nazi people and always will be.

My mother is full blown German but a conversion to Judaism. I can't say ill towards modern Germans because I have German blood in me.

There are certain parts in Southern Germany and in Austria where Jew hating is still strong and pronounced. I've heard and even experienced the bad malicious treatment they give to Jewish tourists there.
But mostly Germans, and also Swiss Germans, are polite and kind folk. From their government however, I expect much better.
I don't think the modern Germany is the militaristic chauvinistic and ultra nationalist society it used to be. But that doesn't mean it can't revert back to this state. I heard Rabbi Kahane addressing this issue, and I fully agree with his opinion in this matter. He argued that the Germans were normal people, there is nothing and that what happened in Germany can happen in other nations including America.

You shouldn't be like that GK. You are a Kahanist and you need to be a moral example to the world. You shouldn't be acting like all the other pagan (because that's what they really are) Germans out there, most of whom are Nazis. You are supposed to be better than that.

I have a split mind.
Germans are good and friendly people. They are helpful and powerful. Germans do everything very thorough and try to give 100%. They are mulish and like to drink.
I do not represent the typical German. I am proud to be German because I know that there are a lot intelligent and great people. I know we have things we can't be proud of. But I think and I hope most people learned. That's the next point. Some Germans are totally stupid and retarded people. Sometimes I really think "Why?". That's why I think there are good and bad Germans. But all in all they are ok and acceptable.
Germany is a great and powerful hightechnological country. Germany is ecoconscious and modern. Germany has a lot of great landscapes like the hills in the south and the beach and sea in the north. The only thing I don't like is the social system in Germany and a lot other small things. Germany is young and Germany can learn and will learn a lot new things!

I don't want to sound insulting or dismissive but I really don't agree with that. Yes, Germany is highly technologically advanced and modern, but that means nothing. Nazi Germany was highly advanced and sophisticated also--it was the most high-tech nation in the world at the start of WWII (thanks in large part to the very Jewish scientists it so persecuted). Germany TODAY is ferociously anti-Israel and I do believe that average Germans feel that way (not just the government), and are also allowing Muzslime to take over their own country. Until I see evidence that vast numbers of Germans have repented of their Nazi past (and present), I just can't have anything positive to say about them.

I have always loved the German culture. I think that if one has to rate cultures, the German culture should in all fairness be #1 in the world (the best music and philosophy) - just ahead of the French culture, which a very-very close second. As for the German people, I haven't known that many. Maybe a dozen. So I can't generalize.

To add. Right now i am finishing Goethe's Elective Affinities (in English, of course).
I read that when Goethe was 12, he learned Yiddish, and when he was 13, he learned Hebrew. I wonder why? What influenced him? I know that he was from Frankfurt, and Frankfurt was a big Jewish center. Maybe he saw a lot of Jews around, and became curious about their culture.

Some movies are very good - Stalingrad, Das Boot. Still, I prefer French, British and Italian movies.

I think Germans and other European are too docile and indifferent to the muslim intentions. Germany is the #1 exporter in the world, still ahead of china, Japan and America. I believe the mentality of this country is accordingly, they want to please everyone and sell their merchandise to everyone, no question asked.
