Chaim, thanks for another excellent program. Including your answer to my question about Denmark's role in the holocaust and expanding on Denmark's horrific actions towards Israel in the present.
I definitely would like to here more about your experiences with the JDL. The story about the Jimmy Carter supporting police chief from Westchester is one that I don't recall you mentioning on a previous program. The more JTF members know about the impact that JDL made under the leadership of Rabbi Kahane and yourself, the better. It's a history that is purposely ignored by Hollywood and the media.

I've wanted to ask about JDL more often but I wasn't sure what you could tell us and what you couldn't. If you have more great stories that you can share, please tell us! They are some of my favorite moments in these shows!

Yasher Koach Chaim. I appreciate your answer. I understand the dangers of the evil, but it was a nice wakeup call/shofar blast to hear it again. This year, I made a few resolutions, one them is that I will be cutting down slowly on my intake of pop-culture.

Chaim three poiints
1) When did you get active in JDL? I was there in 71 and 72. I was from Brooklyn so even if you were active at the same time our paths might not have crossed if you were mainly in Queens or Manhattan.
2) Your discussion of Law and Order was right on. I used to like the show, but the left wing slant and political correctness is awful. I did not see the show you mentioned with the Rabbi raping a Black woman but there was one episode where a Jewish guy steals money from his company to help Israel and murders someone to cover it up, then plays the Jew card at the trial appealing to a Jewish jury to get him off. That must happen pretty often (sarcasm on). They had a lawyer once who accidentally passed a criminal message for her clients White extremists. This was the same time as a lawyer was imprisoned for very intentionally passing messages for Islamic terrorists. They always twist the stories and the culprits are usually Zionists, Right to lifers, Insurance companies, etc.
3) I think your experience in prison would make a tremendous book. I have a friend who is a psychologist in the prison system out here (his is a medical facility not as bad as many others but still quite awful). That you survived as many years as you spent there, without getting stabbed, raped, beaten etc. is miraculous. My firend would not have given you good odds of surviving. In fact the Rabbi who performed my wedding (Reform, yeah I know) was a chaplain in the prision system. He told us a few stories about the prison system. He mentioned a Jew on death row. I asked if it was the guy in the news. There was a guy, at the time, named Bloom whose mother was trying to get the Jewish community behind her son's pleas to avoid execution. The Rabbi told us Bloom was not Jewish. In my own research I learned that his only connection to being Jewish was through his father, and by the way he was on Death Row for killing his father. Anyway the Rabbi told us that Bloom was so violent, mean and crazy that other Death Row inmates used to say to keep away from him.

I think what you need to understand is that in 1948 the Labor Party was virtually a monopoly party. Begin was in opposition but not taken seriously. The people who supported Labor were extremely patriotic. The Kibbutz movement produced the elite soldiers and politicians. Moshe Dayan was the product of the Kibbutz. However, the Kibbutz, despite its elite status, never attracted more than 4% of the population. The average Israeli was an urban dweller, small shopkeeper, etc. While the large companies were largely controlled by the Histadrut, a socialist based union they were still patriotic.
The problem with the Israeli leftist system is that in reaction to the Holocaust and later the Arab attempts to destroy Israel, the leftists were strongly patriotic and strong in their support of Israel. However, secular socialism is not a sustainable ideology to produce strong nationalists. So the Jews of 48 to 73 accepted the need to fight. Anyone under 36 years old was born after the Yom Kippur War the last terrifying, survival endangering war. You have an older generation that is war weary and a young generation that does not care.
Anyway that is my view of it.
