The mg is the standard measure for a pill... the 1000 implies it is very large. Typically you are looking at 250mg or 500mg for most pills. Sometimes 100mg.

There are some pills that are as low as 1 mg..

Some are less than a mg - they are dosed in mcg(micrograms). :)
Like synthroid.

Could be VERY confusing with the 1mg pill, these things are typically very small on packets.
